It's a cap space move and of course depending on Laine and what he gets. Saad gets them a two way forward, plus dahlstrom is a solid LHD that need and both will come cheaper then Connor. Highmore is a solid center prospect plus the pick to balance the trade.

Could also replace Dahlstrom with Chad Krys if necessary and replace Highmore with someone like Saarela or one of the other AHL forward to sweeten the deal. Jets are in a win now mode

WPG still has 17.5 m without dumping anyone to sign both players
if you're saying connor signs for 7.5m there is 0% chance this trade helps WPG at all
especially when you're adding an older players at 6m/7.5m you are saying Connor signs for

unless Connor wants 10m + this scenario seems like a bad trade idea for WPG

Winnipeg doesn't touch that. Why get older trading a young superstar in the making? Wishful thinking, would probably consider Saad and Beaudin. Seabrook in the top 4? Yikes.
