Really surprised VGK couldn't throw Holden on the Gusev trade NJD has so much cap this year

to give cap flexibility.. going into a season with 300k cap isn't a good thing

VGK kept Holden, Eakin, reaves over guys like Gusev, Miller, and Haula. Smh

Miller is awful.

I think it’s two fold

1. Why lower Gusev value even more. VGK was offered a 2nd and a prospect a month ago. Essentially nothing changed since then.

2. I think they like Holden, want to keep him in the system until the TDL, when they have manipulated the cap enough. I will not be shocked when they go with a 22 man roster a lot this year and Glass, Bischoff and Schuldt are periodically sent down to save space.

Miller was gone regardless. He was benched game one of the playoffs, and they have young Dmen ready to be promoted. Cap space and roster space where both needed


Haula was also gone regardless. They like a league minimum Pirri over a 2.75 million Haula as the 9th Forward, even with no Gusev.
