Why do they need fabbro

This would be nice, but I don't see Nashville doing that trade unfortunately as they need Fabro more than they would want/need Kapanen.

He would definitely be a nice addition but I think Nashville needs him more.

If they resign barrie and muzzin they would be giving up kappy for a guy who would only be playing around 15 minutes. Lilly could easily fill that role and they would keep kappy

How do you propose keeping both Andersen and Rielly who will need extensions in the next 2 seasons? The answer is you wouldn't also, Barrie for sure is going to go FA next summer. Muzzin could be kept but I also doubt it.

I agree, however, the leafs will have a tall task re-sign both Berrie and Muzzin.

Even if they get one of them they can have sandin on the 2nd pair and they really would only need a guy to play 3rd pair minutes then. Kokkonen maybe if hes ready but they have so many guys and signing one shouldn't be a problem

Barrie is no go.....with 50M bonded in 7 Forwards, anything above 5M for a D isnt doable

The point was to trade a RW (leafs position of strength) for a RD (position of weakness) while also saving cap space. So i was just looking at RD on entry level contracts

Lots of ways to make it work. Cap goes up, hyman's contract is done, replace him with entry level Nic Roberston.

Following year cap goes up again, Kessel's 1.2mil is finally off the books. Dermott could be a trade chip if Lilj can play 2RD.

I looked at this also. either Brodie/Hamonic/Vatanen at the 5mil range.
I just thought Barrie is more enticing than all of those players for 2.5 mil more.
Tons of UFA options tho, which is nice
