Description
I doubt he waives, but if so does this work? RD seems to be the biggest organizational weakness for the Ducks, and they look to be in a quasi rebuild or re-tool. I picked Brook because I think he's our best RD prospect, but if you are higher on Juulsen or even Fleury than either could be realistically swapped in.

The hope for the ducks is that Fowler can play 2RD freeing up a spot for the kids on the left side

I never really considered playing him on his off-side. I know a lot of coaches really don't think players can do that in today's NHL. But fair point, and all the better for the Ducks if he's capable.

What part of Cam Fowler's 4 team trade list isn't being understood here? There's no way Montreal is on that 4 team list. Fowler will waive for Contenders only. And Montreal is still years away from being a legit cup contender.

Literally said in the explanation "I doubt he waives but if so does this work?"

I'm pretty sure he played the last 20ish games on the right side after the deadline last year

I think deal is fine in terms of value, but we'd need a replacement D-man coming back instead of Lehkonen. Would probably have to be Chariot, if he wasn't just signed and had an NTC.

I think Fowler alongside Weber is when you'd see Fowler at his best. I've said it before, but I think Fowler is an excellent complimentary D-man to a true elite RD.

Yes, probably more like 10, but yeah.

I like Cam Fowler, but I would NEVER give up that much for him. Brook is one of our best prospects, nominee for best DMAN in the WHL last year. Lehkonen still has potential to improve offensively and he is a great penalty killer and then add a first. I wouldn’t even give up Brook for Fowler, who only had 23 points last year.

What an incredibly short-sighted statement. Brooks is an impressive kid, but he's has 0 NHL games. The jump from WHL to AHL is steep, let alone from WHL to NHL. I mean, we have Sam Steel, who posted 50 goals and 131 pts in the WHL in 2017, won CHL top scorer, won WHL top scorer, was WHL player of the year and was a 1st team All-star. We think he'll turn out into a nice 2C. Meanwhile, your less impressive player, with weaker credentials, playing a position that is much harder to predict is going to surpass Fowler, an NHL level, top 4 D-man any day of the week with the ability to play as a complimentary top pairing D alongside a legit 1D. Yeah, good luck with that. Absolutely ridiculous, but just another classic case of potential >>>>>> actual player playing in the NHL.

The going rate for a player of Fowler's ability is replacement roster player + young, high potential prospect + 1st. We literally just traded Montour, a far lesser player than Fowler, for 2 of those things.

P.S. I don't care if you'd prefer to keep Brooks over trading him for Fowler. I think that would be the best thing for MTL, tbh. What irritates me is your suggestion that (a) Fowler is bad because he had 23 pts - the whole team sucked this year because of RC and pts isn't exactly a good metric to judge D-men, and (b) Brooks will probably end up better than Fowler - the high likelihood being he won't.

Please watch some of Josh Brook's games. He is a great right shot defenseman who is amazing in the D Zone and great in the O Zone. We also have Romanov on the left side coming up. Dont really need Fowler.

I am sure he is and looks fantastic in the WHL, but the NHL is a completely different level. I mean, Brooks didn't even win the Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy this past season, and many of those players turned out to be 3rd pairing guys at the NHL level and/or fringe NHLers (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Hunter_Memorial_Trophy) i.e. Blum, Petrovic, Kichton, Pouliot, Bear, etc. Meanwhile, I have Fowler above guys like Russell, Alzner, and Theodore. Anyway, my point is that you're getting pretty ahead of yourself in assuming that Brooks is set for NHL success. He's a former 2nd round pick who had a good season at the WHL level. You'll have done extremely well if he turns into a consistent NHL level D-man.

In any event, Fowler is worth a tonne more than Brooks. If you don't want Fowler because you think MTL should build within, fine. I actually agree with you, but your suggestion that Brooks is more valuable than Fowler is quite frankly moronic.
