From a value standpoint, that isn't bad for Kempny. It's tough to gauge a value on a player considering his stats and all that aren't great, but he complements John Carlson so well that it may boost his value.

But the Caps won't be trading Kempny any time soon. Our defense fell apart once Kempny got hurt, especially in the playoffs. He's a huge part of why Carlson has been able to elevate his game to another level the past two years. He is absolutely essential to the success of this team, and given our dwindling window of contention, he's sticking around for a while.

Jim Benning has put the nucks in cap hell thanks to his dumpster trash trades and sh*t signings. They can't make this trade nor do nucks fans want this trade to happen. But you are in luck, the dunce that is Jim Benning would probably make this trade even though it favours the leafs.

No thanks to the Vancouver trade. The Washington one hmm...if the assets were different would the Caps take a look?

Actually I like the trade Vancouver trade as a Leaf. Give more cap room and controllable years with Stretcher, so don't think the Canucks do it. Cup contenders Caps don't trade a cheap NHLer for futures.

I think if we were starting to rebuild or retool, that's a trade we look into making, given we have guys like Alexeyev, Fehervary, Siegenthaler and Johansen that the organization all really like. But for a team in a dwindling window to win with this core, there'll be no NHL defensemen shipped out for futures right now
