No from TARANA!!!

Let's try a little harder.

Remove the 1st (2nd+3rd) instead.

Right wing: Mitchell Marner ($9,800,000) - William Nylander ($6,962,366) - Artturi Lehkonen ($2,400,000) - Trevor Moore ($775,000)
Centre: Auston Matthews ($11,634,000) - John Tavares ($11,000,000) - Alexander Kerfoot ($3,500,000) - Jason Spezza ($700,000)
Left wing: Andreas Johnsson ($3,400,000) - Zach Hyman ($2,250,000) - Nicolas Petan ($775,000) - Kenny Agostino ($737,500)

Right: Jeff Petry ($3,000,000) - Tyson Barrie ($2,750,000) - Cody Ceci ($4,500,000)
Left: Morgan Rielly ($5,000,000) - Jake Muzzin ($4,000,000) - Travis Dermott ($863,333)

That team is much better than Ceci on 1st pairing tears of joy.
Solid Depth up front and in the back-end.

Kapanen and his contract alone worth more than 2 years of Petry retained

Losing Kapanen sucks. Petry would be great partner to Muzzin or Dermott next year so I like that addition, but losing Kapanen would not be available option. Keep Lehkonen and we keep Kappy. Fair?

I’d do Petry Lehkonen and a 4th for kappy 2nd 3rd

Edit: ignore me saying this I thought Lehkonen was better than he really is

That's better - thank you.
The "downgrade" from Kapannen to Lehk isn't that significant - especially since they'll both be playing 3rd line duties.

The idea was fitting in a #2D + #TOP9W for roughly the same salary while increasing overall team output.

It's the retained portion on Petry that's the most attractive portion.
Sub 3 million for your #2RD (next 2 years) on a cash strapped team.

I agree Petry would be nice there but Petry is 31 and I don't see any GM giving up that much for him.
