Minnesota Thoughts

Description
EDM needs wingers, MIN needs to rebuild. Eriksson Ek and Puljujarvi are basically a wash, Minnesota takes on a lot of salary here, but that EDM 1st rounder could be huge, I think it's a win for both sides.

Zucker doesn't get a bigger return because he's been on the market for over a year now. Value is not as high as you'd think for the players involved.

I guess it isn't that funny as that 1st round pick will be top 10.

Well with Vegas, Calgary and SJ, their will be one place left for Arizona Vancouver Edmonton and the 5th in the Central. So the pick has a lot of value. If it is unprotected, the Wild could take the deal. For Edm it would be a gamble but they have to do something. Good idea.

It's a necessary gamble. This team drafted 9th last season and I believe this is a drastic improvement. The next option they have would be moving a couple of D prospects to get more depth up front. Kreider would be a decent deadline add.

I think benning makes the team. Maybe if you also wanted to go after Eric stall too. Would fill the third line center need and Ek can move over to LW

I think Benning is blocking some really good young talent from making the roster and his ceiling is not nearly as high.

Yea. But I think Bouchard would really benefit from 20-40 games at the ahl level

I don't think that's necessary, he's the oldest of his draft class and is a really confident player. EDM has always had the problem of poorly developing their prospects (Yakupov, Puljujärvi, Nuge never reached his full potential, Yamamoto). They need to learn how to find a balance between playing mature prospects like Bouchard, and letting others like Pulju and Yak develop in the minors. Putting the mature players in the minors will deter them and hinder their confidence.

So this is the second or third ACGM I've seen people claiming Minnesota is rebuilding but Fenton got fired for wanting to rebuild.
The owner wants to contend so why is any GM going to do the opposite?

Can't see Minnesota trading Zucker now, he'd be a nice add for the Oilers but Minnesota seems to want to make the playoffs so unless they're getting something better then Zucker I doubt he's moved.

Because most people would agree that MIN is not close to contending this season. Koivu, Parise, Suter, Staal, Dubnyk are over the age of 30. Their next wave of Kunin, Kaprizov, Greenway and Boldy are who they should build around with Dumba as the leader. This team will miss the playoffs this season for sure.
