What is the difference of Bortuzzo, Edmundson and Gunnarsson? How would you rate them 1,2,3? Is the difference drastic? Since there's only two spots available on the roster i never know who to put in and who to keep out

Edmundson slowed down in production last year based on injury. Gunnarsson was great the entire season underrated, and I cringe everytime Bortuzzo tries to drive the puck down the ice.
Gunnarsson is better all-around compared to Edmundson who drastically went down offensively and defensively isn't the same as he was. Bortuzzo is great on defense, but so so bad on Offense. Gunnarsson plays both really well. I have him replacing Bouwmeester's pairing so it's not really that I am making it exactly Pairing 1-2-3 it's more spreading the minutes out evenly with the good chemistry. Dunn and Pietrangelo amazing during the Finals. Parayko and Bouwmeester amazing throughout the year and playoffs. Borgman should be able to fill the final spot with Reinke during the season to fit under the cap.

I didn't really fix the lines, but Schenn doesn't want to play Winger he likes playing center, but I would almost suggest putting Thomas as 2C as he is fully ready and was doing what he could do during the playoffs.

Yeah Schenn is a centre, he's still in his prime so you have two excellent 2Cs.

Yeah, and I would even vouch to say maybe Sunny 3C Thomas is moved to RW and Schenn moves up to 2C

Yes Thomas at RW would be ideal.

Do you think the Penguins made a mistake trading Cole for Bortuzzo in 2015?

there that looks good, but remember Robert Thomas is a True Centerman so I think having him at Center would be good to get him experience for the future rather than putting him at Right Wing his entire career.

I would say yes. Cole regressed so much from where he was at, and Blues got so much more out of Bortuzzo than what Pittsburgh ever got.

Well, Cole was a reliable bottom pair defenseman during those 2 cup runs, but it was obviously a short term gain, long term loss.

That's true but some centers never get to play that position when they make the NHL. Schenn can play LW as well but he's great at faceoffs.

Every GM would die for a player like Kyrou, he's got the size and skill. Wasn't Elliot good for a few seasons in STL?

As a leafs fan, you could/should be able to sign Borgman for $750k×1 or 2 years IMO, although I wouldn't be surprised to see him break out this year as it's getting close to the point where he has to show/prove he can handle the NHL full time and remain healthy. I for one will be rooting for him as I always liked him as he brought much-needed sandpaper to our lineup.

He was good, but the problem was he was getting old and relied mostly on our stellar defense. Parayko Shattenkirk (good at the time) Pietrangelo Gunnarsson Bouwmeester Bortuzzo. And when they fell apart against San Jose so did Elliott and Allen. Elliott was traded for the Expansion draft basically. Blues didn't want to lose out on the Value he had after his run in the playoffs. So they traded hiim for a 2nd and a conditional 3rd round pick.

Which is why I like Bortuzzo and Parayko, but I just cringe at the site of Bortuzzo driving the puck. It's like asking for A gourmet burger at McDonald's it's just not the right fit lol.

Yeah no doubt the Blues netminders were very protected from the stellar play of the defense units, all very reliable.

I agree, but Borgman is like a poor mans Bortuzzo IMO although slightly better at moving the puck and faster i n the small sample size I've seen so far.

but the main thing is he is Left Handed which works for us because our left side is a bit weak we made a good add.

For sure. I just wouldn't pair him with Bortuzzo is all. I think he will fit in the Blues system seamlessly.

Where is JBow? I'd much rather see him that Borgman.

Also need to swap MacEachern and Sanford...and probably need to keep Sanford on the 2nd line anyway. I expect he'll have a breakout year, as he's extremely talented (but needs to be more consistent). More ready for a breakout than Kyrou, who I expect will spend another year in San Antonio. Kyrou was overmatched in the NHL last year, especially when given prime top 6 minutes. He'll be great...just not until 2020-21 or 2021-22.

Jay Bouwmeester by this time next year will be 36, and will be regressing from now even. He might be decent, but him being super slow now has really slowed the entire team down, he actually made Parayko look bad. Parayko could be so much more dynamic without Bouwmeester. Borgman>>>Bouwmeester defensively, and that's what we need Defense. Bouwmeester is an older slower Pietrangelo. A guy who is offensive based and wants over 3 Million per year. Not gonna happen with the cap we have, it's going to have to be Borgman in order to keep us at the cap or under it.
