Not a middle sixer. We have AHL players

Oh, sorry. I assumed you meant the San Jose Sharks' middle six. smile

Stephenson played with Backstrom for a game or two on the way to winning the Cup, and looked decent, but, yeah, on a team that's stacked with wings like Washington right now, he's been mostly a spare part.

Colorado just gave a 2nd, a 3rd, and a prospect for a guy who got scratched to give Stephenson a spot, multiple times last year. So... whatever?

But I'm responding to the wrong jab:

This is funny, because actually I just looked it up and you totally don't, after the Kane and Karlsson trades. Like, none. https://mynhltraderumors.com/2018-19-top-ten-san-jose-sharks-prospects/2019/06/11/

You might want to trade for actual AHL players before turning your nose up at a good checking wing with 100+games, 20+ points, and a Cup ring?

I shouldnt need to explain this but the sharks have 15 AHL forwards that are signed to the big team. We are looking for someone with real point ability who overpayed on a team with cap issues, not a plug you cant fit in.

Im not sure where to start with you, but if we wanted to play a guy in our middle six who can score 11 points in the entire season, we could do it. He is bad and we have no interest in overpaying.

What's the highwater mark for points scored by a winger on Nic Dowd's line? I feel like Jumbo might get him going, offensively. Stephenson's defensively sound and a quick skater. He lost his gig on Backstrom's line to Vrana, but he earned a shot before Vrana, if that tells you anything.

I know you're thinking big, and I only read your list of prospects to see if you could afford to make an offer on Oshie, but it just isn't happening, so be realistic.

You might be the biggest homer I have ever seen. You dont really have any concept of what im asking do you? The sharks want to take an overpriced winger from a team that needs to kill cap. We do not need a plug to fill our lines, we need someone with legit skill who can play on the second or third line.

Poker faces are a waste of energy when the cards are face up. Your 2R says "Shlemiel," or something. And I google him, and he's a recent 6th round pick with six games AHL experience, and a couple of lucky bounces. I know he's not really a 50 point AHLer, because his offense didn't increase from his draft year to his overage year in juniors. Even if he were a 50 point AHLer, Stephenson frequently dresses over 60 point AHLer Travis Boyd. Chandler Stephenson could upgrade your top six. I'm just here to talk hockey, not provide therapy.

You know nothing of our prospects but you know id like to provide you a small little bit of an article from someone who does know prospects.

https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/31-thoughts-stealth-suitor-emerge-matt-duchene/

19. Someone is going to ask San Jose about Sasha Chmelevski, who scored five goals on Monday for OHL Ottawa in a 6–3 win over North Bay. The Sharks are going to say no. Chmelevski fell to the sixth round in the 2018 draft, and teams are already regretting it.

I mean, I'm sure you could get someone who had one good game, once. But Stephenson has more career points than three of the forwards you've got on there, and he's only played a season and a half in the NHL, plus he's a faceoff/PK specialist, not an offensive player at all, so you really want to compare his offensive numbers with, like... I don't know? Jay Beagle, who had 13 points last year at $3M?

You cant convince stupid but I will try one more time. The sharks need a SCORING winger to play in the middle six. If we wanted PK specialists or plugs to fill out the lines we could get them, but we are looking to take advantage of teams in bad spots to get quality players, such as Frolik or Rust.

SJ last year had the 2nd most goals for and the 21st-fewest goals against, so what you need most is a shut-down line, and a shutdown defenseman, if you want to make the playoffs. You've already traded your first round pick, so tanking now wouldn't make much sense, unless Erik Karlsson is cursed, or something?

As a Caps fan, though, I object to you sending another lottery pick to the Eastern conference. If Stephenson for a 3rd is too expensive, how about Stephenson plus Djoos for a 2nd?

WE DONT NEED PLUGS. I CANT SAY THIS ENOUGH. THOSE ARE BOTTOM OF THE BARREL PLAYERS THAT DO NOT HELP US WIN A CUP.

I was about to point out that they did fine winning it in Washington, and have more rings than the entire lineup above, but I googled to double check and it turns out you guys totally won one on Playstation! https://www.engadget.com/2008/04/08/ea-sports-predicts-sharks-as-stanley-cup-champs/

Ok so lets go over this. You think that having a cup ring makes you a good player? Well why do you want to get rid of these guys then? They are awesome

They're good enough to win with, yeah. But the Caps could use a couple roster spots to develop some recent picks, since they didn't trade them all for rentals.

Have a Jordan Staal? You guys like the idea of long contracts on players already in their mid 30's right?

His offensive production is better than 4th line. I don't know what it is about him that everyone hates (I also really dislike him) but he's at very least a 3rd liner.

I think the frustrating thing about him is that he has the skill to be a better player than he is, but he just doesn't put the effort in most of the time.

It's fine right now, he's playing to the value of the contract, it's just the term.

Travis Boyd might also fit in that middle six, pretty well. Maybe for a 4th? I mean, if you're serious about not signing Marleau....?
