While I agree, it’s still a business driven by the cap. Thee are ways though to stay under cap and keep Seabrook, which would involve the losses of Murphy, Määttä, and smith, the latter two of which could be bought out if not traded. Potentially a Saad trade as well.

as much as trading seabrook might hurt the "culture" or "leadership" or whatever other intangibles, it's my general understanding that "winning games" brings teams together more than anything else. the best way for chicago to do that is to trade the guy who takes 9% of their cap and gives them two losses per season, then replace him with literally any other player in the system.

that said if i'm vancouver i want a bigger payday because that contract is bad bad bad
