My guess is that discussions start around there.. that would make me sick to see however.

Yeah, wouldn't want to lose Keith but he would be a huge add for Winnepeg and assuming he would waive to head home to where his kid is. Boqvist would hurt for sure, but I'd think Keith and Boqvist would be overpaying for a RFA who isn't signed and has been very streaky and one dimensional. He's not Kane....yet and it's gamble if he will be but could you imagine Laine playing with Kane and the leadership of Toews...talk about getting the best out of Laine.

I’d honestly rather keep Keith and Boqvist. We would have too much trouble paying everyone with Laine on the books.

Stan! Glad I found ya! Let's go Dach for Laine and maybe even a 2nd rounder. Just think of Kane feeding Laine left and right. Easy 40 goal scorer! Yes, yes, this can work Stan! Make it happen for us! ChiHawk, good job creating some debate brother!

Seems like the Hawks wasting an opportunity to obtain an superior sniper (maybe not Laine) when they obtained Shaw, DeHaan and Maatta for 12.4m and little cap departed.
With bonuses potential the Hawks will be carrying deal with smaller cap into next year when Debrincat (who might be better than Laine) and others want a raise
Keith,,,,leaving for four years of Winnipeg....nope.

Keith is a top 4 on most NHL teams and at $5.5M with 4 years left while bringing to the table 3 cups under his belt and a lock as a hall of famer that is not a bad cap hit at all for a team that needs a top 4 D guy. Take Toronto moves for instance, I'd take Keith every day of the week over Muzzin including the difference in cap.

For next year, Maatta is gone for sure...easy to trade as his buyout is only $650K. Crow will be done and Delia is more then capable to backup Lehner or someone else if they go to free agency and he's cheap. Murphy will also be moved as Mitchell will be ready to step in. Saad also likely gets moved as the Hawks have a pretty deep pool of top 9 players such as Kurashev, Hagel, Sikura, Nylander, etc. There is cap space for Strome and Cat is the net.

The chances of a trade like this happening are low no doubt, but cap wise it's not a problem and you'd be looking at a team that is in serious contention over the next few years with Laine and the young guys stepping up (NHL network ranks the Hawks prospect pool as 5th best in the league). Hawks have done a pretty decent job retooling on the fly and it's not over yet.

Not a rumor that there is a trade with the Hawks but the rumor is Winnipeg is looking for a top 4 defensive NHL player and high end prospect for Laine.

Why in God's name would Winnipeg trade Laine within the division?
