Marner at 3yrs would be around late 8s-9M AAV. 6yr deal would be around 10. 9.75-10.25x6 would be the 6yr deal and 8.65-9 would be 3yr deal.

It’s only an overpay if Nylander rebounds (which I am not sure if he will) and if Liljegren makes it to the bigs to be a 2 or 3 D. (Which I am pretty sure He won’t)

Nylander will be good, Lilly will be a top 4 D. The trade is bad and marner fiesn’t Bother with arb. Just signs his QO and hits ufa.

Not sure why you don't think Nylander won't rebound. There's more to suggest he had poor luck this season then his first 2 seasons being a fluke. Also I don't quite understand the sudden negativity on Liljegren. He's a 20 year old RHD playing the shutdown assignments in the AHL. Most people are just upset by his point totals stagnating but that might just be a result of not playing on the powerplay anymore. He's at worst Toronto's 2nd best prospect with lots of time left to develop

If things happen the way you say, then the deal is horrendous.

So obviously you feel differently than I do. It’s a feeling I have, more than an opinion. I would like nothing more than to be wrong in both counts!

What evidence do you have that a 22 year old top 10 draft pick who who already has two 60 points+ seasons and led the WHC in scoring wouldn't rebound after a season in which he was 5 months behind everybody else?

I like the team, like the Marner signing even though his value is inflated by his holdout.
The trade is really not good, because I disagree strongly with your opinion of those two great young players. The Leafs lose that trade by miles, guaranteed.

The signing is garbage he's not get 9.5M (that's Kucherov money) while not giving up any UFA years and can we stop calling it a holdout, it's August so it's at most a negotiation at this point. Also holdouts are people withholding their services while being under contract, think Le'veon Bell in the NFL last year, the most Marner can do is sit out this season, which would be dumb because he a) say what it did to Nylander's season last year and he saw people like the thread starter turn on him because of it.
