He can get paid there. But he will not win **** there.

Not with that goalie tandem, at least.

lmao first off hes gonna want a signing bonus contract like aho but for way more and carolina isnt financially capable of doing that where as pretty much any other team is. Plus carolina has a good roster and they made it to the conference finals but every real hockey fan knew they didnt stand a chance against boston and with a reimer mrazek tandem there not going to return. They have a decent team but they wont return to the conference finals even with hall so why would he go there versus other teams that are built better or even similar but that could actually give him his signing bonus contract

We have a nice, shiny Victor Rask, how about that? /s

Anyways, that team looks awesome on paper with Hall. Only thing you need is a better goalie, maybe if the Wild go belly up this year they trade Dubnyk at the deadline if the price is high... Unlikely but could be a possibility if one of our young goalies has a great year.

First off, the banter between the Canes fans and the Montreal fans above is pretty funny. Habs fans talking about winning lol.

Anyways what I will comment on is how bad of an idea this would be. Hall is a perfect candidate for a sooner rather than later decline. He plays a very taxing brand of hockey and has been injured a lot over the years. He starts this 13 million dollar contract a month before he turns 29 and will be 36 when it runs its course. This is precisely paying for what someone did during their prime and no value will come from this contract.

If I was going to do any contract for Hall it would be a 3 year deal at a high cap hit. Giving him term at his age and history is extremely risky.

I agree, but Hall would never sign that. It's just like Erik Karlsson's extension this year, where both players are phenomenal when healthy, probably have about 2-3 more high-quality seasons left in them, maybe another 1-2 years of good but on the decline, and then **** could hit the fan and you're stuck with a $10M+ dud. You do it because you think your team is very close and a superstar could put you over the edge, but at the same time it's extremely risky since generally players want security on long-term deals.

Let’s be real here, Carolina got hot for a week and beat a good team in Washington. Then they played a trash team in nyi. Then they got their faces stomped in. Carolina was embarrassed in the ecf

Agreed, this is all for fun. If this happened, it would destroy what the Canes have been building

Over the next 3-4 years you'll see a shift in thinking, giving term to players entering their 30's is in almost all cases a bad idea. Eventually GM's will wise up to it.

As a fan of a team with players that are 35+ and both are already showing their age with 6 years left... I sure hope so.

Just saying you shouldn’t be bragging about an ecf appearance. They didn’t belong there

I don't think his statement is at all fair. Carolina had a really good 1st round matchup with Washington. Washington was great on special teams but really bad at 5v5. Carolina had to stay out of the box and they were the better team, which they did and won. The next round was an easy matchup as well and against Boston, all the advantages Carolina had were not really there anymore. Islanders weren't very good at 5v5 and relied on insane goaltending and timely offense, that didn't work against a superior 5v5 team. Boston nulified their strengths and were the better team. The Metros isn't really strong and with the current playoff format its a little misleading to think going to the conference final means the team is a power house. They certainly didn't look like it against Boston.

I think Carolina is moving in the right direction but they still need more depth upfront and better goaltending to really be a contender. Hall would definitely help but I stand by my thoughts that it would be a poor move long term.
