tell me this raif. how do players get paid then. what makes marner different from say kapanen? its about points. its about overall production. Marner has outproduced aho in every single way over the past 3 years. I think he has outproduced matthews in everything except goals. thats not a knock on matthews, guy can put the puck in the net. I just think marner is a more well rounded player.

right but theres a huge difference from getting smashed in the head and getting tapped. if the guy is good at selling it, they can look the exact same. What if the puck carrier is the reason it becomes a hit to the head? you are gunna suspend the other guy? its a contact sport. you just cant do it. you can do the blatant ones but the smaller ones, you really cant.

Unless there's absolutely nothing the player making the hit can do to not get the other guy in the head, suspend him. Don't just say, "His head was too low" or any of that nonsense. Watch Kronwall's hit on Lee ... that is not a clean hit.

And now you just made it a judgement call on whether someone could or couldnt avoid head contact. this is what should be avoided. this is exactly why im arguing with you on this. Its gotta be 100% clear blatant contact. otherwise its part of the sport and you gotta let it go. there is no "one suspension fits all hits" approach here.

right but you agree that aho at 197 points and marner at 224 points should be paid differently? they have the exact same point share. Marner has more assists aho has more goals. same amount of games played.

no, and i probably wont because i dont necessarily care about taking head contact out of sports. you ultimately cant get rid of it all anyways. you can get rid of some of it. but you cant get rid of head off ice, or puck off head. You can limit high sticks to a certain degree but it happens.

Any NHL opinion that most people will disagree with. It can be something that happened in the past, an opinion on a player, a prediction, or anything.

For me, i'll say this: it wasn't in (2004).

Ive made this argument before. If you sign up for the sport, you know full well what you are getting into at this day in age. Dont want concussions? dont play contact sports. why should physicallity get taken out of a sport that is used for entertainment purposes? If you cant hack it retire. The players arent being FORCED to play. They arent being FORCED to fight each other. You are signing up to play the sport knowing all of the repercussions of the sport now. including head trauma. Take care of yourself first imo, but again its not like these guys HAVE to play hockey.
