I think the best we could expect is having to retain 50% on his salary and including a 2nd round pick in order to get a 1.5-2.5M pending UFA who probably won't be good enough to even crack the roster.

Its really not even worth it at this point because Habs have cap space. If Alzner really wants out, he may have to accept a mutual termination of his contract, otherwise he'll have to play in Laval again and hope a solid season may entice a team to take a flyer on him at the bare minimum of cost. (Highly doubt even that though)

Habs will just have to keep him until they have no choice but to buy him out. Hopefully at the next lockout they'll be able to use a compliance buyout on him so that there wouldn't be any cap penalty for doing it..
