I figure it makes everyone happy:
Edmonton gets a goalie that may be able to take the starting spot
NY gets a young guy who is basically boom or bust and open up a spot for Shesterkin
Puljujarvi gets a fresh start in NY, which has a relatively large Finnish community (and Kakko)
Georgiev gets a chance at a starting role, which he probably wouldn't in NY with Hank and Shesterkin above him

Very interesting. I just wish you'd called Holland BEFORE he signed Smith... Confused

Fun fact: last year in the KHL Kravtsov played almost equally as many games on the left wing as he did on the right (and was actually slightly better on the left) so that shouldn't be a MAJOR concern, especially with Kreider likely gone

Like the idea...seems to work for EDM, NYR, and the players involved
Just think a little sweetener might be needed to get EDM to turn the page on a player who seems to have all the skills and who once was a big part of their future...I'm thinking maybe a 3rd...or a 4th plus Day or Gropp.

I agree with you but the likelihood is Kreider isn't traded before the deadline

Oilers have already committed to Koskinen. Would be way more interested in Lemioux, Buchnevich, DeAngelo (Buch and DeAngelo we add) and even Namestnikov (Rangers add)

Not sure Georgi has the body of work yet to accrue the value involving a 2nd....if he does back up Hank this year- he will get a good amount of work- and if he builds on what he did 2nd half last season he may achieve that value and then some....but for now, all he has on the resume is last year's 2nd half...his Hartford #'s prior to call up were not great (of course lots of reasons for that) - so nothing to pin some value to there.

Pulijarvi obviously has been a big disappointment...so there is risk associated with him...but he still is very young, has a good pedigree, and with a change of scenery might blossom- so EDM (even with little leverager against him) will not be so quick to give up on him and sell to another NHL team for pennies on the dollar....for EDM- best scenario right now is for him to tear it up in Finland this year and build some NHL interest and confidence in him.

Zero reason to trade Georgiev! Great g depth is our strong point. Flashback of Hirsch and Blackburn. By the tdl, Hank realizes time is up and is traded @1/2 or is bought out next summer if he stumbles. PuljPulj is a bust cause he's lazy, one dimensional and was expected to be an instant star and thrown to the wolves as a kid with no fellow Finns. We have skilled kids, now we need character/workhorses. I know Igor is 23 and we have Russians, but he should play every game for Wolfpack with Kravtsov and Rykov. Anything can happen, I like our odds With Georgiev in the mix.

There is absolutely 0% chance of Hank getting traded or boughtout

Georgiev is a diamond in the rough and will most likely outplay Hank and Shetorskin this year, so giving him up, straight up for a kid that has done ZERO so far at the NHL level is just plain stupid. I wouldn't give Edmonton any more than a 3rd round pick for Puljujarvi…….a kid that has done nothing and now is holding out....NO THANK YOU!

Georgiev is the odd man out because
1. Hank isn't going anywhere until his contract is up
2. He needs a new contract after this season
3. Shesterkin had some of the best numbers EVER in the 2nd best league in the world
4. Shesterkin is cheaper

Saying you wouldn't give more than a 3rd (and assuming Georgiev is quantified as more than a 3rd) for a 21 y/o player who was a consensus #3 pick in a very good draft class only 3 years ago is insane, especially when you consider the developmental issues the Oilers organization has had.

What that supposed to be sarcasm? Weird comment from a guy whose username is based on a prospect with zero NHL games...

Trading Georgiev is a huge mistake. And it's amazing how many GM's have jumped at the chance to get Puljujarvi…….such a demand for his services. Open your eyes.

Being on a team for 3 years and not doing enough to avoid being sent back and forth from the NHL to AHL is NOTHING. He has done NOTHING to earn a starting spot on the Oilers, which gives him ZERO reason to think he deserves anything but a minimal, short term contract from ANY team. Why is he so desirable? Because he was picked high in the draft? Does that score goals in the NHL? Does that help teams win in the NHL? It means squat if you don't perform on the ice when you have a chance, and he hasn't done squat.

Remember how many people said trading Talbot was a huge mistake? And now he's the backup in Calgary...

Forwards traded away from Edmonton tend to have a pretty good track record ... Hall, Eberle, Strome.......

Trading Talbot was never a mistake, they just didn't get enough for him at the time. Hank was still a legit #1 goalie when they traded Talbot. I love Hank, but he's not what he once was and Georgiev is the best goalie the team has right now UNTIL the Russian kid proves otherwise in the NHL. You're comparing Puljujarvi to Hall and Eberle? Come on.
