(OTT/NYR) - Ebert for Namestnikov
Trade works well for both teams:
Senators can showcase Vlad and give him bigger minutes that the Rangers couldn’t. This will boost his value and they can flip him at the deadline for 2020 picks
Rangers get needed cap space AND a roster spot to bring up Chytil or Kravstov ASAP. They take lesser value to make the trade happen now but getting the kids ice time is the most important thing

19-20 NYR Trade Deadline Firesale
These trades look great but I think they will be looking for more ready now talent so that Boston trade for instance, they would probably want a 2020 1st and then a ready now prospect instead of a 2021 2nd.
The other trades they might get a better return if they package some players and mid level picks together to get a solid prospect that would be ready to play in the NHL next year

2019-20
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jimbo1119</b></div><div>Few tweaks:
1. Lias as 3C- centering Names and Strome...Krav starts year in Hartford- not a punishment for him- but allows NYR to "showcase" Names and Strome as 3rd line players so hopefully one or both can be traded by mid season....best case- one or both bring back good value (once the trade market opens up)...worst case- they both tank- in which case waive one of them to make room for Krav at/around Christmas
2. 4C- the "winner" of Howden vs McKegg. If Howden- then he centers Lemieux and Fast- with McKegg as 13F. If McKegg- then he centers the same with Nieves as 13F and Howden starting in Hartford- to get big minutes playing with Krav.
3. Rykov starts in Hartford and Lindgren starts as 7D....but this is only desireable if Lindgren is given a chance in spelling Hajek and Staal to the point where he is playing in about 1/2 the games...any less than that and he is better off playing big minutes in Hartford with Smith in NY watching games from press box.
4. Buch starts on 1st line...Kakko to 2nd</div></div>
I completely agree with this. It sucks that they have to send Kravtsov down essentially because there is no room with Names and Strome, Gorts has to move one ASAP because you can't have your #9 pick from last year not on the big club getting used to NHL speed everyday. Send Smith to the coast and save money that way, guy can't even skate backwards anymore

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gregpapas411</b></div><div>andersson scored 1 preseason goal lets take a step back. howden out played him last season and as of rite now should sit above andersson on the depth chart, imo. its going to be interesting to see what quinn does with stome and Namestnikov. storme is to good be play the 4th line. the team might have made a mistake not trading one of them in the offseason, i hope it doesnt bump one of the young guys out.</div></div>
they still could trade Strome or Names at any minute especially if other teams don't like their center depth or players get hurt in preseason....

New York Rangers signed Anthony Deangelo (1 Year / $925,000 AAV)
Finally as he had zero leverage. This take a ton of pressure off Fox and if TonyD plays well, he could either get a nice extension or get some solid trade value at the deadline. Win win for the Rangers

Takeaways from tonights game
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Spanky227</b></div><div>a little bit more:
- Crawley and Smith can be cut and should never be a "thing" again
- Hajek played very well
- Sheshterkin was solid but not solid, he dropped a few pucks there which scared me. Chalk it up to nerves for now.
- Skjei was unimpressive, hopefully it's just rust
- Like Trouba's size, but needs to move a bit quicker in the D-Zone and on the backcheck. His offensive game was nice
- Kakko fit right in
- Andersson looks like he improved a lot, I liked him and Kravtsov together
- "WOW" - kreider
- Panarin
- Did i mention Panarin?
- Panarin Again</div></div>
Agree with all of this, send Smith down to to save a bit of cap and sign Tony D to $1.25mm to end this nonsense as he would thrive in this offense.
McKegg would look awfully good on the 4th line if he played like that every game
Trouba pinched too hard a couple times because he probably thought Skjei would cover but he was too busy making snow angels
Igor will start the season in Hartford as he still has to get used to the angles of a smaller rink and the speed of the game
Andersson looks like a different player and I really hope he and Chytil can secure those 2C, 3C roles

Toronto Maple Leafs signed Nicholas Robertson (3 Years / $850,000 AAV)
Simple question: umm, HOW can the Leafs keep singing players being $15mm over the cap and the season starting in 2 weeks? As a Rangers fan, I was nervous about our cap situation then I see this and my jaw in on the floor. How is Dubas gonna get under $81.5mm by Oct?!?

As a Rangers fan, a 2020 4th OR a 2021 3rd (what they got from Buffalo for Vesey) would most likely get a trade done with the Rangers even retaining some cash. They need the cap space but more importantly, they need the roster spot to play some prospects

I feel like a deal like this with no other moves is exactly what will happen. I also agree with the lineup except that Boo, McKegg and Smith will all be sent down to the AHL (which will give the Rangers a little over $1mm in extra cap space wiggle room). This roster should be about a .500 team and fringe wild card team if everything goes right simply because there are a LOT of kids that need to adjust to the show. Next year is when we see a massive leap to playoff contender status....

I put in what I thought would be the highest amount they could theoretically get to see the cap implication. If they sign for less, then that saves the Rangers even more cap space

For the Oilers trade, switch RNH with a 1st round pick in 2020 and the Oilers might do that deal.
For the Sharks trade, either a 2020 3rd rounder or 2021 2nd rounder is closer to Strome's value.

Make that pick from the Rangers a mid round pick and you have a deal. Rangers can't trade their 2020 2nd rounder as it is tied to the Adam Fox deal

Get Gusev
Vlad doesn't get you a 2nd, even if you eat some cash. 3rd rounder is probably the best you can get for him
Rangers can't trade their 2nd round pick as it is tied to the Adam Fox deal and goes to Carolina if he plays more than 20 NHL games

Finishing an Incredible Offseason
Problem with Lias/Howden/Chytil is that they all need a season of solid minutes at center to see their potential but you can't see what they can really do if they are on the 4th line. Only two of them will get solid 2C/3C minutes which is why I figured you package one with a 2nd for Gusev who could be a scoring machine.
Same mentality with Lindgren as he will be buried on the depth chart unless a few people get hurt. So if losing him clears all of Smith's contract for the next two years, it might be worth it
