Why wouldn't you want Martin resigned. He plays a good 4th line game.

Because he’s already showing signs of decline. He’s old and slow - doesn’t really hit and fight as much as he used to. Islanders have better internal options at half the cap hit.

Johnston hits similarly often and is a lot sprier. In the long term, we have Durandeau, whose ceiling is AT LEAST a bottom six grinder-winger.

Johnston and fritz are both better options than Martin. I think clutterbuck gets bought out at the end of this season so I think the 4th line will be fritz/johnston-cizikas-komarov.
