Kapanen is better all-around. Johnsson doesn't score enough even strength points to justify his contract and I think the leafs could find a better fit on Matthews' line

Overpay for Pageau imo

Probably, but he’s having a good year and there are enough bubble teams desperate for center depth that someone will overpay

But if your going to have to overpay to get him might as well just not get him at all he's not a game-changing piece by any means

Mayfield is a good depth player but he's nothing special, best suited as a bottom 4 defender. That isn't worth Johnsson or Kapanen. You can do better.

It’s not really too much of an overpay tbh. Only piece that kinda sucks to lose is that 2nd rounder, considering how deep the upcoming draft is supposed to be. Otherwise, Ho-Sang is not going to be here long term, the Brassard experiment is on the brink of failure and mid round pick is a mid round pick. Not too upset about that
