You'd still have to retain salary... at least 1,5 million

Seabrook holds a NMC and he has stated that does not want to leave Chicago. Can not demote him, all you can do is sit him in the Press Box and hope he wants to leave.

so 6 mil in one year cost a first, in this, the first two years will be about 1.5/yr added for CBJ (i dont think Dubinski is LTIRed) and then they take like 7.25 for THREE more years... and the only difference is the difference between Elvis (a decent young G) and Lehner... even if you take the estimated cap hit % it's 1.8%+1.8%+8.1%+7.8%+7.6%=27.1% (over 5 years and assuming the cap jumps to 90 after next season) Marleau's was 7.7%... now obv Seabs will probably be burried by the end of the deal, knocking it down, but still...

Elvis is 25 with a .863 save%, he's not going to become Lehner in 3 years, in fact he may be back in Europe in 3 years. They also have the Seattle draft, with a waived NTC it be easier to give Seabrook to Seattle. If not you buy him out in 2 years.

His contract is pretty much buy-out proof. Wouldn't save much money during the length of the contract and his buyout would carry a 700K caphit for 4 more years after it would have expired

I'm not saying the difference between Elvis and Lehner is nothing, Lehner is certainly much much better, but it's still not enough to make the difference, plus (every teams fanbase seems to think this) Seattle wont just take your teams bad contract for free, you'll still have to move a good amount to get them to take Seabs for three years, whether he's still in CHI or not

I more meant you called Elvis a good young goalie, while he is neither good or that young
