Hopefully he plays and doesn't get the Dobson treatment!

as long as we keep winning I could care less ab Dobson. they could be legitimately torturing him but if they're in the midst of a winning streak, idc

You could care less about wasting an entire season of development/growth for one of, if not, our top prospect? That's a ridiculous take man, come on.

You mean there are moments where we shouldn’t obsess about roster adjustment, prospect development and trade rumors? Am I at the wrong CapFriendly?

yes. winning over everything. if they feel like Noah isn't one of their six best dmen (rn a good assessment), so be it.

The problem with this is, statistically he's been one of, if not, the best D on the ice in every game he's played. The kid has shown he's ready for the NHL, only reason he's not playing every night is because we have guys making 5 and 6m annually that aren't completely ****ting the bed right now like everyone thought they would. If they didn't think he was ready to play regular minutes in the NHL, they should have kept Hickey as the 7th D and sent Dobson back to Juniors for another season to play first pairing minutes again.

if anything it hurts his development going back to dominate juniors. He gets more out of just being here right now and being scratched. He still practices everyday against NHL players, so it's not like he's gonna forget how to play hockey. You're correct that he is NHL-caliber but unfortunately for him there are eight and possibly nine defenseman in this organization that are NHL-caliber. He's gonna need to wait his turn.

I agree it would not have been good for his development to go back to Juniors, however, anyone who has played hockey knows, practice is no substitute for game play. Playing top pairing minutes, even against competition he dominated, would help him more than sitting in the press box for 40-50+ games (which he is on pace to do) and missing out on that game play opportunity, especially for an 18/19 year old.

I understand Boychuk is playing well, but he is not the future of this team... Dobson is. They should be rotating games at minimum.

If this was 2011 I’d agree with you but the Islanders are in the position of winning games now. They gotta try to do that over everything else and as long as Boychuk is playing well, I’m not gonna mess with the three pairs.

Rotating Dobson and Boychuk doesn't hurt the team, in fact you could argue it helps the team more by having a younger, more mobile D in there every other game. After a shaky first period in his first game, Dobson has not looked out of place at all. In fact, at times, he's looked like an elite level D... where as Boychuk is, well, Boychuk.

I think Boychuk has looked the best he has in years. He's even getting involved offensively. Team yearns for JB on the PK too.
