Trading ceci makes no sense if you aren’t replacing him with someone better, even if he is the number 7. If you plan to go deep in the playoffs, plan for some injuries.

What's in for the Ducks??? Plus LA based Miller isn't waiving his NTC. Bad trade for Leafs with no replacement. Why do so many want to give Ceci away for nothing? Ridiculous.

The truth is Ceci has not improved since the trade from the Sens. He is slow, lacks agility, can’t suppress shots, can’t position, can’t recover and is not capable of adding any level of physicality. He has a good shot from the point but that’s it. That was the reason why he was picked in the first round but he can’t even exit out of his own end or lead a rush. The guy is worse than Justin Schultz from his Oiler days. I don’t understand why Babcock keeps playing him so many minutes. Dermott is more than capable to take over. Ceci is honestly not an NHL level defenseman. Even Liljegren and Sandin can skate better than him!

Agree about the agility and speed to some extent, positioning has been okay, physicality has been great. Lilly and sandin are both amazing skaters so that’s really no knock on him.

???? "Dermot is more than capable to take over" You realize that a team uses six Dmen a game, and during the course of a season use about eight. So you want Dermot playing 40 minutes a game?
We kinda know who the Leafs six Dmen are , but subtracting any of the six without a viable replacement makes the team worse. The reason Babcock uses him over 20 minutes is because he has too. One reason is Barrie has been poor this year. Maybe Holl will pickup after sitting out for so long. But really this Ceci hate is really unfounded.

Ceci's physicality is average. The only reason why Leaf fans think his physical play is great is because no one else except Muzzin plays with any level of physicality. I don't understand how a defenseman with such poor agility and skating swiftness can get picked in the first round, especially since he was identified as a puck-moving defenseman. His only strength is the shot from the point, that's how he got most of his points in junior. Indeed there have been defensemen who don't have great agility, skating and puck handling skills that got picked in the first round, for example Chris Phillips, but his defensive instincts were great and he was capable of exiting the zone effectively. I don't see any of that in Ceci.

No his physicality has just been good lately. Hopefully he sticks with it.

OK. Mikey you don't like Ceci. But its absolutely ridiculous that the Leafs would get rid of Ceci when they don't get a replacement in return. Fact is Ceci has not been the Leafs worse Dman. What he did in junior or Ottawa has absolutely no meaning in what he doing with the Leafs this year.
I just think so many are just jumping on "Ceci is bad" troll, and it started in July...it's an urban legend. Objective fans know what Ceci or doing or not doing this year which is the only measure of his value to the Leafs this season.

I have given more than enough reasons supporting why Ceci is not good.
