@Ledge_And_Dairy @F50marco any of you can help with the cap and the salary they paid for a player or read above, I think Ledge you’re the one that explain me why Florida was over the cap a little bit

There is no point in time in the regular season where you are allowed to be over the cap (with the exception of exceeding the cap via LTIR room)

@GMs
Teams can be over the cap at the the TDL.
1. 81.5M is only the cap at the beginning of the season that every team has to be compliant with on day 1. The cap is adjusted/recalculated every single day.
2. Over the season teams pseudo accrue cap space for every day they are under the cap. How it actually works, a percentage of players contract (and cap hit) are paid off daily so at the TDL there are roughly 40 days left in the season. So if a team acquires a olayer at the Trade Deadline that players cap hit is divided by the total number of days in the season (180 something) then multiplied by the remaining days in the season (40 something).

I understand that. However that’s not the same as being over the cap. They’re picking up a player at a pro-rated amount, while their cap space is not pro-rated.

As it stands Boston currently will have 1.4M in accrued cap space at the TDL, this has them 1.67 over the cap but with a 24 man squad. Neglecting injuries and call ups there shouldn't be an issue here

There is a thing called Deadline Cap Space. It is additional cap space provided to teams for a playoff run. Almost every team last year that made the playoffs was 1-3m over the cap. Do your research.

There is a thing called deadline cap space. It is not additional cap space provided to teams for a playoff run. It is banked cap space. If a team is exactly at the cap for the season, they have zero cap room at the deadline

I'm not gonna try to explain the minutia of the salary cap. All the facts are literally on this site for everyone to read them selves. lol

I will say this, pointing out an AGM is over the cap is kind of pointless on here. We're looking at a single frame in time here on these AGM's. Players get injured, trades happen, players put on waivers, players called up, etc etc etc All those things can make a team not be over the cap in reality. If the team was 15M over the cap, fine, but 1.4M that could be easily explained and proved to not be over the cap in reality.

Capfriendly's AGM system does not calculate every single dollar correctly. Its an estimation based on every single player on the current roster playing all 82 games. WE all know that isn't going to happen.

Sending him down would make his salary 5 mill but theyre gonna have 3 guys scratched, meaning it isnt going to free up more than about 200k

Okay well there are four guys scratched included backes on this roster, so it would save 1.15 i believe.

It absolutely is not. If someone with very little knowledge of the NHL came on and saw you say that “ there is additional cap space provided to teams for a playoff run,” they might think that you meant there is additional cap space provided for a playoff run, because you made it sound like you thought there was additional cap space provided for a playoff run.
