I think its already too late, we didnt do enough over the summer, we got off to a good start because of a new coach, some guys playing with confidence, and some pretty serious puck luck. Its starting to look like we are still a one line team with an upgraded d- thats still only average, only the bounces have stopped going our way, and we are back to some nasty habits like forwards on the perimeter and d getting pinned in their own zone for minutes.

And you lost to capitals in washington 2 to TB 1 against the islanders which was an insanely lucky goal. I just dont understand why there is sheer panic right now. It's not panic. I enjoyed the run to start the season, I didn't think they did enough to fix the second and third lines, and advanced stats started to show that they were not that good- before the streak ended. Eichels line possesses the puck and scores 5v5. The other lines dont, the fact that they were scoring to start the season (along with a ridiculous pp) is why they were so hot. The d has to get the puck out, which can be fixed, the pk has been poor, it can be fixed, there's a lot of forwards on this team that aren't good players, that's probably not getting fixed. We shouldn't be looking at rentals, we don't have a ton of space, and we don't have a ton of high value assets to move to get a forward that makes sense. Or maybe I'm wrong and Marcus Johansson is a legit middle 6 center that will pile up points with Skinner and sobotka, mittelstadt will carry the underwhelming sheary and vesey to respectable totals, and girgensons, larsson, and okposo will show that they can score the occasional goal along with cycling in the offensive zone.
