I am open to trading Nurse - albeit much less so than I was this time last year - but not for that kind of deal. Athanasiou is on the lower end of the return I'd like to see for Nurse, and for this deal to ever go through, I'd be very interested in acquiring Svechnikov along with Athanasiou and possibly something along the lines of the Washington 2nd or Detroit 3rd Round Pick in 2020. Nurse is the biggest piece in this deal, and Edmonton is in a position where trading him hurts them in the short term.
Edmonton doesn't exactly "need" more RHD at the moment: the trio of Bear, Benning, and Larsson (once healthy) is a stable enough group should Bear maintain his game. Next season, Bouchard will likely supplant Benning, then it'll be a matter of finding a new top-4 option to replace Larsson by the 2021 deadline. I don't believe Bowey is that piece.
The price I've listed above is most likely out of Detroit's range for what they're willing to pay, and that's fine given that I doubt Edmonton is looking to move Nurse now that they have some bonafide puck-moving defenders to play alongside him.
