I really have no desire to take on Zuckers contract.
I'd rather keep options open next year rather than take on that cap hit.
The only way I'm making that move is if Hornqvist is the guy in the swap, so we are trading the cap hits. Other than that, I'll keep the cap space.

Zucker's contract isn't even bad.

5.5 for 3 more years after this one.
It's not horrible, but why get wrapped up in it.
There are good players in FA next year. Especially at wing. Who I think will better fit the penguins. So you are looking at a move that should be cap Neutral.
I think Hornqvist is as cap neutral as it gets for this trade.

Is Tyson Barrie a God on defense all a sudden? Why so many overpaying for him?
As for the Zucker trade...I don’t necessarily mind it, however if we are going to play him on his off wing then it would be a bad trade. He is pretty bad on his off wing. But if he is on Crosby or Malkin’s LW, I’d be a little bit interested.

Schultz>Barrie, and I'd have to be convinced that Jarry+4th isn't more valuable than Barrie, especially RN with how Jarry is playing

1. Schultz is better than Barrie
2. If anything, Schultz for Barrie straight up is a better proposal. No salary retention at all, both players are UFA at the end of the year. We'd basically be paying Schultz's salary for a worse defenseman.
3. Jarry is arguably the best goaltender we have right now. I'd rather trade DeSmith, but personally I'd keep all 3 with Murray's injury history.
4. Toronto is imploding and I like it. Don't help them unless it seriously benefits us.
