easy no from mtl. we dont want turris's long term cap hit. we have guys coming up that need contracts. a late first is great, but not worth losing a top 5 selke worthy center over

That is a steep bill to pay for a third line centreman and a guy with poor hockey vision.

When you call one of the better all around center men in the league a 3rd line center. There's a reason he finished top 5 in Selke voting last year, and he will do the same this year.

It's an easy no from Montreal

Hard pass from Montreal. Turris not worth taking on even with the pick. Danault too valuable.

Danault is pretty much a non starter simply for the fact that he is more valuable to MTL than elsewhere. Having a QC born player whose good, plays the right way and is being molded into a Carbo/Bergeron hybrid...... that's as close as to untouchable as Habs players get just about. Value may be fine, especially if the 1st ends up being a lottery but I doubt the Habs who are trying to win now would part with their top centerman unless another top centerman was coming the other way. Turris lately is simply not that and also comes with a price tag that is simply too dangerous to take on blindly.

I agree that Danault Shouldn't be traded, but I think value wise MTL wins this trade. I think it's curious that Turris at 4M$ is now considered a risk when not so long ago in Ottawa he was a very important centerpiece - I wouldn't say he was elite but he was at least a great 2nd center. Maybe a change of scenery would be beneficial?

Tolvanen and a 1st is an awesome return - Imagine, 2 years from now, a line composed of Tolvanen - Kotkaniemi - Caufiled, or suzuki, or Poehling... Man.

You also receive a 1st and Tolvanen... Package with way more value than Danault has...

Good, at least one out of 10 or something close to that of Habs fans notices that they actually get some really valuable assets in this move.

I understand Tolvanen is only 20, but he's looked horrible in the AHL this year. I would argue his value is at an all time low. Also, we don't really need any wing prospects. If it was a defensive prospect, it would be a different story, but this trade sets Montreal back now and in the future.

i agree with your pov, but the habs have no center as of now who can replace danault. the guys on a sick contract. tolvanen would be awesome, but the habs are trying to make a run. they already have 2-3 rookies on the roster (2 full time) and i dont think thye would want tolvanen jumping in just yet.

Would you consider it if Danault was replaced by Tatar?

That would make it even worse. Danault is a top 5 defensive center. Plays first line PK and is among the top 5v5 point producers in the entire NHL

yeah. thats something we can talk about. cause im assuming with caufield and suzuki and evans etc coming in, habs are gonna trade tatar next year. teams can get him for dirt cheap, and he can put up 55 plus points and play exciting hockey. energize his teammates and all. depending on the demand, and consideirng how poorly turris has played (albeit a limited role), but also taking into consideration the his cap hit and contract. thats a trade idea that is reasonable imo

Turris could be a godd add-in... but Danault is so usefull rightnow for MTL... yes switch with Tatar and keep Tolvanen.
Tatar, Juulsen for Turris, 2020 1st (host in MTL)...

you are right... 6M is too much but Tatar would ask for the same amount... Maybe retain 1,5M on Turris...
the GOAL... to get a 1st round pick for hosting the draft.
and Turris at 4,5M/y should be a good fit.... no?

Realistically if the Preds have a 25-31 overall 1st round pick, it could be

Montreal
7th Round Pick

Nashville
Kyle Turris
2020 1st Round Pick

Hell, Montreal could probably get more

I don't think the GMs see Turris' contract as bad as : "Give me a first to get him off your hands." - Turris isn't that bad IMO, I think it's just that he doesn't fit there. 6M$ isn't so bad either - I can name you 10 other guys who make more and produce less.

6 Million for 5 years for a guy who is a healthy scratch? No GM in there mind is going to be taking that off of Nashville without getting something substantial back. Why would someone help out Nashville? It's a dog eat dog world.

Nono I agree dude, I'm just not sure it's worth a 1st... :U

Again, I think he might be worth taking a risk.

Marleau got a 1st for 1 year at 6.25 and he was a top 6 forward in Toronto. I don't think you get a healthy scratch being paid 6 Million for 5 more years for anything less than that.
