If Pietrangelo is walking

Created by: STLBlues17
Team: 2019-20 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 2, 2019
Published: Dec. 2, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I know this is hypothetical, but what if Pietrangelo just won’t sign. The Blues are first in the west by 5 points already and have clearly shown they can win with this group so they’re not trading him, but what if they double down instead. Build the greatest Blues team of all time for one season and then move forward with Hall (Who is 2 years younger) instead of Pietrangelo. They’d need to hold Tarasenko out until the playoffs, but if they did that they’d easily have the cap space to do it. Playoff lines below. The trade is similar to the Duchene trade, but I feel Kostin is comfortably a tier above Abramov and Davidson as pelrospects.
Trades

My concern with Hall is injuries. Lots of people are calling him garbage right now because of a small-sampling of bad games this year. On the whole, Hall is an elite offensive winger, but if the current bad results are more than just a bad stretch and are actually a product of his injuries, I'd be extremely concerned signing him to a lucrative deal. He hasn't looked dangerous, he just got demoted to the 3rd line, his GAR/WAR/threat are all suffering right now... there would have to be a lot of confidence in his health going forward for me to even consider trading for him if I was GM. And Armstrong is a lot smarter than me.

Giving up alot of talent for a guy that has really only had one good year. Blues don't need to mortgage the future on a trailblazing four goal scorer. smh. This is a hard pass.

I not only agree, but I don't think Hall even fits the Blues philosophy of grinding and hard play. Kreider would be the much cheaper option and still boosts your top 6

So a former MVP is unfit to play for the Blues because he’s not a grindy boi?

He's a player who tries to be too cute at times. Doesn't play the heavy north-south type of game the Blues play. Would I prefer him over Sanford? Of course. But for a cheaper option who think fits the Blues mold better I think that is Kreider.
