Fowler+ for Duchene/Landeskog

Created by: Garitjax
Team: 2016-17 Anaheim Ducks
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 8, 2016
Published: Jul. 8, 2016
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The idea is Col likely trades RS Barrie for a forward from Edm. They need D so we trade Fowler who I think would look really good next to Johnson who's size should be a real complement to Fowler. Beach would carry their second pairing. Just speculating that Duchene would likely be the more available of the 2. This would allow Mackinnon-Soderberg-Grigorenko down the middle. NJ takes Stoner to help their seriously depleted D and we send a pick as well in order to get a high end Goalie prospect. Vesey is a pipe dream for sure but he can be replaced by Ritchie who most think will be on the team anyway.

you must be trolling with a trade that poor.
No chance Avs move Duchene for a second pairing D man and late first round pick.
Even more comical that you then place him on the third line instead of the wing on the top line/second line lmao

never happen. why on earth would they give up Duchene for Fowler and a pick? Didn't Vesey also say he wants to stay in the North East.

Shero has made better moves already and unless there is a sweetener (3rd not gonna do it) to take Stoner and give up the next goalie to take over in nj there's no reason to do this

No offense you guys but even if you only consider Fowler a top 4, which he is at the very least, top 4 D don't come cheap at all. Fowler has played top pairing minutes for the Ducks for the last 3 years. He has had to carry bottom pairing defense partners nearly his entire career. Unless you consider Bieksa, Lovejoy, or Allen as top 4 D. Those are his 3 most common partners over the last 4 years. If you want to use shot metrics to determine his ability to play defense then I don't know what to tell you. None of them measure defensive ability. Fowler also out performed all of your D in them anyway. Fowler is great at puck retrieval and zone exits. Fowler also owned Duchene this year in the shot metrics. But yeah, he must be terrible. I'm not saying he doesn't have faults or he is a elite #1, hes not. He is a solid number 2 and when paired with a good shot suppression D, like a healthy Despres was, he can be really effective. Lastly, who do you think the Avs are going to trade for defensive help? The Avs have 2 good D signed and tons of speculation about Barrie. What do you think Barrie is worth? Because Fowler is the better all around player. Besides, if you had read the description, this is all based on the premise that Col trades Barrie and needs to add another D. My guess is Barrie gets you a pretty substantial return. A return that might make moving Duchene hurt less. If you don't think that's the case fine. The rumors earlier in the year were that he could be moved. Tons can change. Look at Drouin in Tampa. If you don't like Fowler as a player sure, but he is far from stinking and being "only a second pairing D."

Would you find it less comical if he was on the "second line" with the same line mates? You act like he would get 10 minutes a night because hes the third line. About 1:30 of time sepperated The Ducks number 1 and number 3 center in ES TOI last season. thats like 2 shifts. You're laughing over semantics....

Fair enough, I was just trying to clear some cap space and get some kind of usable asset. I'd be fine just dumping him for a late pick.
