low end cap rumors

Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 11, 2019
Published: Dec. 11, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I Imagine petro may be more money for less term but i think if you can get him committed for the long term you may be able to get him for a little bit cheaper. I know most people don't think they should try and sign him, but i believe he can be a good signing long term as he would be able to help the younger dmen coming up in the team.

First off you can only offer Alex Pietrangelo 7 years, Secondly he probably gets closer to either $9.5 million per or $10 million per. No way he's signing for $8 million per.

my bad, early morning. thank god for spell check or i would look even stupider. he may but at 9 over 7 may be worth it as a free agent. if they trade for him this season it would be different, but i think that depends on if they let the leafs negotiate before a trade because at that point it would be nylander going the other way even though thats a more than unpopular opinion on here

Savard is not worth a highly touted goalie prospect and a younger top 6 forward. The price for pretty much any 2nd pair RHD on this site is insane.

I would love Savard, but CBJ has a top flight prospect in net already that they will be counting on for their future... They would need something else. I think thats too much for Ilya Mikeyhev. He had 3/4 goals and looks really good. But you are right because this is Kyle Dubas and he loves to pay players

No love for Justin Holl? With the way he's playing I'd be very comfortable with him on the 2nd pair next year. No need to get Savard if that's the price.

Agreed. I think his market was established with last year's Muzzin deal...1st and two b prospects.

Savard is not as good as Muzzin. Muzzin was a top pair defenceman for years in LA. Savard has only been a 2nd pair defenceman his entire career. He's worth at most a 1st and likely not even that.

Honestly thats on me i actually really like how Holl has been playing this year and missed him on the UFA screen.

I think if im Toronto i am trying to sign him 2 years 1.1 million asap so they can lock him up a bit. he has actually played really well in a shut down role.

I agree although IMO Savard is underrated by most. That being said most people on here view Muzzin as a second pair guy same as Savard so my comment was more to appease the masses and either way the value shouldn't be too far off. I am surprised tho as I thought I was going to get the usual Savard is right-handed so he's worth more argument from some on here (not saying you) while they conveniently leave out the fact that playoff experience is important for teams pushing for the playoffs and playoff success is even more valuable.

Muzzin played top pair minutes for the Kings for years and won a cup. He has a far greater track record than Savard and his value is there for less. Muzzin was had for an AHL prospect, a B prospect and a 1st round pick. Johnsson is a legit top 6 forward, Scott is a highly touted goalie prospect. That is way too much for a 2nd pair defensive defenceman. This love of Savard is just silly. He's a good player but he's worth an okay prospect and a 2nd. Maybe a conditional 2nd that can be turned to a first if they get to the conference final or something. But this package is too much.

Oh, I agree this package is a joke, I wasn't disputing that and I agree with the rest. Quick question, would you trade Bracco and a conditional 2nd that turns into a 1st based on playoff success for Savard?

Probably but I don't know they'll want Bracco. I think he needs to get a shot in the NHL at some point this season or he's going to go sign somewhere else and hope for a chance to play.

I know they probably wouldn't want Bracco... but that would be my offer. I'm sure they'd ask for SDA, in which case I'd counter with Brooks and Timashov.

Oh I'd give up SDA in a second. Bracco is much better than him. He's proven to be a good OHL player, a good AHL player and could become a decent NHLer but I just don't see it happening in TO. With Marner and Nylander ahead of him and way better, there isn't a spot for a PP specialist on the smaller side. Someone else could give him the chance to thrive and I could see him being a guy who gets 40-50 points in the NHL some day but not with TO. So if he's asked for I'd give him up.

Bracco may be better now but IMO we have to wait till SDA is the same age to compare them. I like Bracco and thought he would be and still can be a replacement for Kap if he gets traded. I stated i would offer him up first but agreed CBJ would probably want someone else instead. I do hope Bracco gets a chance to show what he can do in the bigs be it with the leafs or someone else.
