I think Severson is worth a ton in trade here. Good contract, plenty of term. Take out Barrie. They don’t want a rental. Move him in a separate deal. Instead of Barrie I’d say add Sandin and upgrade the 2nd to a 1st and that’s a really interesting package.

Is severson even upgrade on Ceci defensively? Offensively he has more to give than Barrie for team like Toronto tho..

In the description I mentioned it only goes forward if Barrie resigns with NJD upon trading. Sandin carries a lot more value and would be surprised if the Leafs move him - as his ELC will be extremely important for this cash-strapped team. Leafs also don't have a first so they would have to acquire one.

Ceci is not good. Barrie is offensively better than Severson (at least since Keefe), but is not strong defensively.

Severson is defensively pretty bad.. he might make sense next year for possible Dermott-Severson pairing.

Okay, i get that, but do we think there would be even a 5% chance that Barrie goes along with that? Seems like at this point he would want to test the free agent market rather than sign with a team that’s jettisoning all their good players to tank.

I dont think NJD would consider this without one young, controllable d-man involved.

Take out Bracco and Ceci and replace with Liljergen or Sandin....then retain half of Hall's salary.

He is usually pretty good defensively, but this year has been prone to untimely turnovers (as have many on the Devils).
