These trades themselves aren't balanced. Taking on 1 year of Frolik's $4.3M is worth a better 2nd than taking on TWO years of Jake's $4.35M (Allen is a pure cap dump). Oh and then Lehner retained??? The Hawks are more cap strapped than people think next year. So if Allen with his 2nd year is sent to CHI...I don't even think id do it for the STL 1st.

I’m not convinced that Allen is a pure cap dump. The team needs someone to play in goal next year.

So why do the Flames make that trade? Giving away a pick for nothing. Hawks should have no problem finding a goalie for next season. They don't have 11m in cap they are spending in goal this year.

Flames are going for it. They need cap flexibility.

There are UFA goalie options, but few will likely take a 1 year contract.

Hawks pass. If we are going to get back another year of a backup goalie at that salary, I'd rather they make a similar proposal to Carolina for one of their 1st round picks with 50% retained on Lehner or Crawford. STL 2nd is going to be more of a 3rd as they will undoubtedly go deep in the playoffs.
