I dunno much about the non-Kreider guys in that Blues trade, but Mikkola is probably our best defensive prospect considering he's playing well at the NHL level right now and Toropchenko is one of only two or three of our prospects with top-6 potential. If we're giving up our first round pick too and not re-signing Kreider (which we can't), those other two Ranger guys better be pretty good because we're giving up a lot and we're thin on LHD as it is

That Leafs trade makes me happy! I think it is equal value on both sides and both teams get what they need.

As a leafs fan, Moore and Timashov are playing for the same spot on the roster which can be filled by Andersson and Kapanen is playing 3rd line in Toronto where he is easily top 6 on most teams. This would open the 3RW spot for Braco and keeps together the top 6 while adding a quality backup (and potential future starter if Freddy wants Bob money?) and imo a great prospect in Andersson who can jump in and play right now.

A backup is not worth Kapanen.

Its not a backup. It is a young high end backup AND a top end prospect.

Andersson has shown elite potential and could very well step in and replace Kap right away. NY would not be willing to make this trade if Andersson didnt request a trade

GAA is above 3 and Andersson has shown elite potential at being a bust. He hasn't been an elite player in the AHL and has 9 points in 60+ NHL games. Kapanen is a 20 goal 40+ point player on the 3rd line in TO at the age of 23. If Andersson is an elite prospect what is the slightly older Kapanen? A super elite prospect?

Torp is a couple years off yet probably but the skill is there. Could always bust still but like I said we're low on high end potential prospects so we make do with what we got.

Yeah, if you're targeting a b/c guy Laferriere fits the bill well. He's actually looked great the last two seasons, but so far he's only played in the QMJHL, and it's easyish to have high points in that league, so who knows what his ceiling actually is.

My statement was not hard to value. A backup with a GAA isn't a top level asset. Nor is a former 7th overall pick who has not shown well in the AHL or NHL.

It’s not gonna be cheap to get Georgiev and while he alone doesn’t get kapanen with lias I think the leafs would def do it not to mention the cap that they save

Why? Because you want him too? He has a GAA above 3? Hardly elite. |

No bc realistically he’s got a bad defense in front of him and he’s still shown signs of being a potential starter and while u may think lias has no value he has the value of at least a 3rd

Ur the unreasonable one here ur getting a former 1st rounder and a potential starter for kappy. The leafs have been known for turning around prospects

Cool, when you completely give up on him we'll take him for a 5th and then make him a player.

We didn’t give up on him.. he requested a trade which is why his blue is around a 3rd

Just keep the guy, we have our own Georgiev already, it hears by name of Hutchinson. To backup it with numbers :

Hutchinson ( his first three Seasons ) :
38 GP......2,38.......0,914
30 GP......2,84.......0,907
28 GP......2,92.......0,903

Currently 3,83.......0,885

Georgiev :
10 GP.......3,15.......0,918
33 GP.......2,91.......0,914
21 GP.......3,11.......0,911

Also eye test isnt convincing me he will be more then above average AHL stud ( tho its a Goalies conversation, it can only pan out different *cough*Pogge*cough*)

Not a coincindence NYR is trying with Shesterkin now, with The King "dead", long live the......well, thats why Georgiev is on the block.....

Also for Lias, at the moment hes a soaking Swede who isnt doing any of tasks for "His Team" and isnt living up to his Draft, so that would be 4th max for him, which makes your trade even worse....

Georgiev has been outstanding this season. He has had a few outlier games that have ruined his numbers a bit. Also consider the defense in front of him hasnt been great and many of the goal scored on him have been deflections out front, which arent his fault. You are also overvaluing your own players. Kapanen isnt really anything special.

That is an awfully flimsy argument. Andersen, if you listen to everyone on this site, plays in front of the worst defence in the history of the league and he is doing better than Georgiev. Also a 50 point pace is very good production for a 2nd liner, for a 3rd that is just nuts and that is Kapanen currently. So this convo has now entered the realm of stupidity.
