Some of Edmonton's D will inevitably be traded for wingers anyhow - maybe even some of the young players. The Oilers have 10 defensemen under team control next year who are subject to waiver claims and can't be sent down without being exposed, since the team can only carry 7 I think we'll see some trades rather than face losing them for nothing.

LHD:

Klefbom
Nurse
Russell
Jones
Lagesson

RHD:

Bear
Larsson
Bouchard*
Benning
Persson

*Bouchard won't have to pass through waivers, but he will most likely be on the NHL team which complicates the handling of older players who aren't waivers exempt.

My guess is we see Russell, Benning and Persson moved for forwards.

I am playing Bouchard in AHL next year as long as possible. I think it 70 games in 2 years or 40 in one year and he will not be included in Seattle expansion draft. Russel and Person can be moved, but will offer nothing and probably are not even moveable. Legesson/Jones one of those has value and will be moved. That is why I dont know why we drafted another D and than trade D away. Why didnt we just draft an forward

Yah the difference is, you have a great goalie, while we have brutal goalies. DIFFERENCE!!! You dont allow the 1st goal on the first shot of the game 30 times over the past couple years. You guys would be last place if it were not for your goalie

Is that really a stat for the Oilers? 30 times they have allowed a goal on the 1st shot, that is nuts. For the Leafs under Babs, allowing the first goal was something that always happened it seemed, under Keefe TO often has a 3 goal lead after the 1st. Its weird how that has changed.

18 times last year, Talbot was famous for it.....On the first shot!

Bouchard is exempt from the expansion draft, no amount of NHL playing time next year will change that now. They can't pick rookies.

All the anger from Leafs fan has distracted everybody from that awful MIN trade. Why on earth would Edmonton give up a 22-year-old 1st-pairing defenseman + two first round picks for a 25-year-old 2nd-pairing defenseman??

It is way too much for Dumba no kidding. However, Dumba is far more accomplished than Bear and to call him a 1st pair defenceman is a bit premature. He's been good but I am not sure he's earned that designation yet.

For sure. But he's been playing 1st pair this year and doing just fine. Dumba hasn't ever played 1st pair (by comp) as far as I could see, I looked back 3 years I think.

Yeah Spurgeon has always been ahead of him. I also wonder if Dumba would excell in a different system. But that is neither here nor there.
