Sjkei to MTL for Lehkonen

Description

This is just an idea that popped into my head. A few MTL fans gave me mixed responses on what the returns might be for this deal, but I wanted to see what others thought. I think MTL would really benefit from Sjkei, who can play top pairing with Weber, while the team waits for its youth at that position to develop. Sjkei could be a staple in MTL blueline for the next 4 years. Moving Sjkei would create more cap room for NYR to re-sign players (most notably Deangelo). Lehkonen is a great top 9 defensive forward who can replace Fast's role in the event NYR were unable to re-sign him. Looking for thoughts on what else needs to be added to the deal.

I still don't know If I would do the trade considering MTL situation regarding the future. But Skjei is a better player than Lehkonen.

Lol you are overrated Skjei and Chiarot this year is better than Skjei. Chiarot play is incredible

Juulsen was playing top pairing in Laval before the headache thing came up and took him out. If it wasn't for Fleury, Juulsen would of been in the Habs lineup 100%. The guy just can't stay healthy. Brook (if you read the Athletic article on him), Coach Bouchard said his issues are that he struggles with the physicality of the AHL. Once he can fill out more he'll be fine. The offensive skill is there, he just hasn't been able to use it being out-muscled all the time.

And there's obviously no issue keeping Petry either if Habs go get Skjei. it would buy more time for the RD kids to develop or go out and get (draft or sign) someone new.

That could very well be a top 40 pick so I'd say no. Highest I would go is 2021 2nd, but that's just my opinion.

Petry will be 33 y.o., will ask for a 5Mx2-3 years contract and need to be protected in the expansion draft (exposing Mete) .

The only easy part is to make a playoff run and let him walk, or trade him at TDL for a 1st+prospect.
