I get that Getzlaf was good and still is a solid player, especially at 5M but 2 young roster players and a 1st is a massive over payment. especially to a division rival. How about Bennett Pelletier and a 2nd instead

I'd prefer an RHD spec coming back, but I'd definitely take that, I like Pelletier (and yes I agree the current trade is a massive overpay)

I think there would have to be retention still. Even then it might still be a little to much going out but it's a lot closer to fair then posted above.

No the lines posted are much more accurate. Backlund is WAY better at 3C and if Flames would move Getz to wing it would be to have Lindholm center Tkachuk and Mangiapane again

oh yeah, I'm just assuming any Getz trade would have to have close to 50% retention

Considering Calgary's current depth on left wing, I think there is a fairly good chance that Pelletier could be moved. I think GMBT considered him to be the best player still available in the draft at the time. With his current performance in the Q (also he likely would have made team Canada if not for the injury) this may very well have been true. Sure he's not a big guy and players like Suzuki, Kaliyev, Brink and Hoglander were still available but there is a decent chance he gets flipped.

I think they all could end up as similar skill level players (including Pelletier), except Kaliyev, he was by far the most overrated player (well maybe Broberg) in 2019

When drafted yes, he never panned out. Hes still ok at center but only in the bottom 6 good back up center
