Your username is tkecanuck341 but it really should be Rob Blake Burner. Why would the Kings trade Martinez somewhere when a team is offering them a solid top 9 winger. They absolutely could hold on to Clifford for locker room presence but since they are clearly tanking they want to optimize their value from each trade they make.
Acquiring a top 6 forward and a roster filler in Cody Ceci in exchange for an expiring free agent and a ohl Defenseman... The Eye test looks terrible but long term results will find both the Kings and Leafs
I didn't understand a word of that...
Clifford will be extended. There's no rush to get a deal done, but he's the unsung hero of the team and everyone's favorite player and person. He's exactly the type of veteran player the Kings want to keep. He's not going anywhere.
Not sure why the Kings would want to trade Durzi. He's young, he's a RHD which they are pretty shallow at, and he's expansion draft exempt. So they're going to trade him for a guy that they have to protect in the expansion draft that is 5 years older? That doesn't make any sense at all.
Johnsson would be a welcome addition to the team, but not if the Kings have to get rid of young players and draft picks to bring them in. Martinez and Lewis, sure? Even Campbell could be on the table. But the Kings have no desire to trade young prospects or draft picks. That's not how rebuilds work.
Make the trade Lewis and Martinez at 50% retention for Johnsson and Ceci and the Kings would probably do it. Or swap out Lewis for Campbell and add a 3rd round pick going to LA. However, the Kings easily decline the trade you propose.
