Schultz declines that contract and Winnipeg declines the trade. If they could sign him for free, they’d do it on the open market instead of giving up a 1st.

Schultz has a 10 team no trade list and my best guess is Canada is on it.

You're not getting retention on Zucker or that 2nd rd pick with him.

Let me get this straight, you want the Wild to retain on Zucker, take Bjugstad, AND throw in a 2nd??? Wow!

If you want the Wild to take the plodding Bjugstad and his contract, it will cost you that 1st, plus Poulin or Hallander.

Plodding?? Since when is Jugs a bad player. I didn't get that memo.

Is he injured a lot, yeah. I will give you that. But he's a solid player on the ice.
Luckily his injury this time is just core muscle. He should come back solid.

I’m a die hard U of M Gopher fan and have also watched Bjugstad since high school. He is most definitely a plodder who, if he wasn’t 6-6 with long arms, would be in the AHL, not the NHL.
He’s serviceable, but does less than nothing for what the Wild need to do, which is get rid of the old and bring in some youth.

But he is 6'6 and he knocked in 9 goals in 32 games last year for the penguins most of which were 5v5 goals in a very effective role.
So as much as you think he has no value, the truth is, the only real knock on him at this point, is he's injured, a lot.
And while I agree he could be a faster player. 3Cs are meant to be defensive 2 way guys. And he's good at that.

And while I'm not trying to say this trade is right. I think you are kidding yourself trying to knock a player who's productive as having no value.

so much talk has been about how deep the draft is this year. Jets need that pick more than Shutlz IMO. If they can get him on that deal just wait till summer. He doesn't move the needle enough
