Habs and Oilers

Created by: RoadRunner72
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 7, 2020
Published: Feb. 7, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Oilers add some offensive depth, without giving up important pieces off the current roster. Montreal adds a couple of good prospects and a draft pick.
Trades
MTL
  1. Gagner, Sam
  2. Lavoie, Raphael [Reserve List]
  3. Puljujärvi, Jesse [Reserve List]
  4. 2020 1st round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Habs get picks and prospects. At this point I would think Puljujarvi is essentially worth a second round pick in value. SAm Gagner is in there to help balance Oilers cap this year.
EDM
  1. Kovalchuk, Ilya
  2. Tatar, Tomas ($2,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Oilers get most of a second line, including another year of Tatar at reduced cost.

No thanks from the Oilers. We are not in a position to trade a top prospect in Lavoie and a first in a deep draft for maybe 1 year of Tatar.

I agree about the first since EDM prospect pool is pretty thin and Tatar+Kovalchuk isnt getting them into contention. On the other hand, Lavoie is defenitly not a TOP prospect, a good one for sure but I saw him a lot last year and this year at the WJC and I don't think he has what it takes IMO. I can be wrong but beside skills, the skating, the IQ and the toughness isnt there.

i think Holland disagree's

i also think any deal done is for just Tatar .

Mcdavids played with revolving number of nobodies on top LW that MTL wouldnt even start
Holland owes him a solution to this problem , its what he was brought in for and Neal isnt the fix

Doesnt have the tools for a bottom role, it's top 6 or bust for Lavoie and most likely bust.

i disagree and given i watched him live for 4+ years now i'm gonna trust what i see .

i remember his rookie season and how physical he was playing a defensive role mostly with some PK responsibilities .
As Hischier left he stepped up into a top 6 role and hasnt looked back . his team utilizes him for his speed and skill because they had lots of role players .

He's still young and has time to grow but my gut tells me he'll make it because i've seen him become whatever his team needed him to be in order to win by making all those around him better.

I'll trust you since you seem to know him better but I personnally think he will bust. I want to be wrong tho, it would be dumb and pathetic to hope for the worst.
