cuz dubas is a coward and doesnt have the balls to do whats needed to win a cup like jim rutherford just did with the penguins. Dubas just gonna keep making the little depth trades

Muzzin last year, a backup goalie this year, Signed JOHN TAVARES, resigned the big 3, traded away Zaitsev and Marleau with only giving up 1 first round pick to do so, signed Jason Spezza, gave Holl a chance... need I continue

I know he loves Ceci (cause who doesn't :/) but if a Sami Vatanen comes around and it will cost you some wing depth and 1 D prospect I will take it. You cannot have Ceci stay in the lineup and I love Lili but I think he needs to finish the year with the Marlies

No you dimwit, he simply wont trade assets for a rental. If he is going for a defenceman, it will be one with term.

Aside from the muzzin trade he has done nothing that justifies all of Toronto media and fans calling him a wizard. He signed Tavares to 11mill not because of his negotiations but because T was willing to take the cut to play for hometown team. he has basically 40mill (literally half the cap) invested in 4 players and thats only because Rielly didnt have a breakout season until last year. He then went and traded for BARRIE of all players. he really went "my weak spot on the team is defense..... how can i fix this? Oh i know let me trade our 3C who has been exceptional for an offensive D who is terrible in his own end cuz that will fix my defense". He isnt a BAD GM, but he isnt the WIZARD everyone keeps making him out to be.

That elite 3rd line C you speak of doesn't play in the playoffs. Barrie has his warts but at least he could conceivably be an option in the post season

I'm not saying he is a wizard or anything. The Tyson Barrie deal was needed at the time. Kadri cost us an impactful centre during the playoffs for 2 straight years. One position where you can always afford to change if you have 2 generational centres is 3C. Besides you get Kerfoot to replace him, obviously he isn't as good as Kadri but will do the exact job needed for 3C and won't get suspended in playoffs (hopefully). At the time Barrie was coming off 60 points and if you can get 2 guys on your team who did that and play of separate sides you DO it!! He was never this bad in his own zone in Col and nobody would've predicted he would make this many mistakes, but his offense is coming back which is a huge plus. And with JT Dubas made an incredible pitch, without that pitch he 100% would've went back to Long Island. Dubas is a good GM and obviously every GM makes mistakes (see Lou and Zaitsev) but his decisions have paid off for Toronto both when he was AGM and GM

Some of his worst moves include: Ceci? But even that trade was to get rid of Zaitsev and that contract wasn't his fault, and Ceci is only on the books for this year instead of 5 more. Marleau deal? Sucks to give up 1st rd pick but again you cannot win with Marleau on that team on that contract. I seriously cannot think of a move he has made that has really cost the Leafs. This might just be my Leafs bias kicking in so please enlighten me on what you think bad moves Dubas made

JT and AM are not generational players, i would say they are franchise players. Dont think you can put either in the tier of crosby, mcdavid, malkin, ovi etc. However i understand that he had a good season last year but it was pretty common knowledge that barrie wasnt known for his defense

Matthews in my opinion is a generational player, he is the best goal scorer at 5v5, is on pace for around 100 pts and almost 60 g and he is number 1 in takeaways. JT is a franchise player I agree with that but still other then Pitt and maybe Edm (but Draistl is playing wing more then centre) Toronto has the best 1-2 punch at centre in the NHL

Lets see, he has traded 2 firsts, 1 second, 2 thirds, Grundstrom and Durzi in an effort to make his team better. Get out of here lmao

Please provide a better solution that Dubas had in freeing 6.25m of cap space giving up a first for Marleau. Betcha the Canes wish they had never made that trade, they could have made themselves stronger this year if they had cap.. Oh, nothing wrong with Spezza or Holl especially at their cap hit.
