Swap Glendening for Abdelkader and then it might happen.

i agree that your UFA signings are optimistic (I think Kreider, Huala & Edmundson will all want more $ and term), but I think the return on all of these trades is pretty underwhelming.

Come on, Turris can still play. He's on pace for 41 points this year playing with bad line-mates and reduced minutes for most of it - Abdelkader is just awful. He would be at a cap hit of $4.5m, only $250,000 more than Abdelkader, too. And Abdelkader only has 3 points this year!! Turris also has proven chemistry with Mantha too, so that could give DET two good lines. I know everyone on here likes to nag on Turris, but the guy can still play - his dip last year was because of an ankle/foot injury. Give Turris proper line-mates and he is still a 45-55 point center. If you don't want Turris that's fine, but your suggestion of Abdelkader for Turris is just silly.

Detroit has too many players over 30. How come he didn't get 40-55 points last season? If all it takes is good line mates 55 points would have been 3rd on the team in points. He is washed up and has 5yrs left @ $6M per. If you expect someone to take its going to cost. I'm not worried though Yzerman has yet to take a cap dump.

You didn't read what I said in my previous post. He had an ankle/foot injury for nearly the whole season and didn't play a full 82. Now he's healthy and he's playing like it. And saying he has 5 years left is a bit misleading, he has 4 more seasons after this one. 4 years at $4.5 (I retained $1.5 in the deal) for a 45-55 point player sounds is pretty good. I'm happy keeping him, the Preds just have a logjam at center right now and he needs to play in the top 6. He is not washed up, Abdelkader is. Turris can still play.

You are right but Abdelkader was washed up a couple of years ago but he has less term on his contract and is cheaper per year. Plus Detroit doesn't lose Glendening and a 3rd round pick in the process. Detroit was going to be bad this year but the injuries to players over 30 hasn't helped and it forced Yzerman to to make multiple trades midseason to compensate for it.

I mean, that's all fair. I just think turris gets more hate than he deserves. He's playing better than people think. And I thought maybe Mantha/Turris could reignite the magic they had from the world championship. But regardless, I think he'll get a better return than this site seems to think.

I just don't think Detroit is in a position to take a chance like that with some of the lopsided contracts they still need to get rid of.
