Should Julien be fired

Created by: CaptainFlynnt
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 16, 2020
Published: Feb. 16, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think, yes.

The habs have made the playoffs once since Julien took over. It was the season they fired Therrien while his team was first in the Atlantic division.

Meanwhile, the bruins have been dominant since they replaced Julien. Therrien's habs also outplayed Julien's Bruins consistently.

Julien has had 3.5 years and accomplished nothing. Say what you want about Therrien, but he got some very good hockey out of some mediocre lineups while he was here.

Anyone have another opinion on Julien?

Hes always been an elite 5v5 coach, imo one of the best in the league in that area. Hes never had a good powerplay in his career. Hes still running 3 forwards and 2 defenseman when that isnt the way to go. Their pp runs through Weber taking clappers that usually miss. They have one of the better netfront guys in the league and some decent pieces. If they are able to get another high end scorer and improve their pp they will be fine. Julien shouldn't be fired.

Edit: there may be better coaches out there but there isnt that much of a difference. Gallant is probably the only guy who is a huge improvement but if bergiven can get a pp specialist who is capable of 60ish points then they can be a contender

Bruins fan here, I heard on our local radio that the Habs only like to hire French speaking head coaches, is that completely true? If so, as a habs fan how does that make you feel? Like would it make a difference to a lot of habs fans if the head coach spoke French or not?

Me personally, I dont care. The coach could talk Chinese if hes the best coach available take him but I know that’s not the same case for other people. Julien was the best coach available at the time so yeah

While I'm not particulary a Habs fan, I'm a Québécois. I'm zero nationalist nor anything like that (no need to start a political debate here), so I don't really care. That being said, people need to understand that the Canadiens are more than a hockey club, it's a cultural institution with a strong history, like Bilbao or Barça in soccer. So, I understand the need to give opportunities to Québec people. I'm not against, I'm not a fan of this policies, but I understand.

They use 4 forwards on the powerplay and have all year. They either use Petry or Weber depending on which unit. The odd time they use both, but that is rare.

Regardless of whether we think Julien is a good coach or not, it has been 3.5 years and Julien has gotten no results whatsoever. Therrien did much better with worse teams on paper.
