Been some noise about Trochek being made available for D man. Doubt B’s have one that interests them that we’d move. But i’d certainly try Grizz/Heinen/pick.

I’d rather Hoffman than Dadonov. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Simmonds of 3 years ago would be great. Today....meh. He blocked a trade here last year, not trading for someone who does not want to play here.

Simmonds blocked a trade here last year? I didnt know that, thought it was only Staal. Scratch him.

I heard about Trocheck but him as primarily a center would Coyle shift to RW2? Or RW3 and the Bruins make another move? I think moving Griz now is the wrong move. I could see him being moved in the off season tho.

I only picked Dadonov over Hoffman because I think the Bruins are kind of priced out of Hoffman. I still think Heinen and a 1st is a high price to pay for a rental but with Panthers trying to remain competitive it works out? I'd feel more comfortable if the third coming our way was a conditional on Dadonov resigning.

Yup, they were on his NTC list and he would not waive. I still would do 2nd + low prospect and Backes for him put him on 3rd line. It’s only few months and rids us of Backes next year. I think doing that and adding Josh Anderson or Kase at a reasonable cost might be an option to add without giving up 1sts.

Trochek would give them flexibility. Vince and Charley both can play C or RW. I hate the idea of moving Charley off C, he has excelled there and really drives the 3rd line. But i think he’s better at RW than VT is. I don’t think they will have to worry about it. It’s just spitballing.

If they re-sign Krug trading Grizz does not solve the expansion draft problem. Lauzon will be Seattle’s choice over Grizz anyway. He’s younger more upside. They’d be better off holding onto both in case they lose one. I’m sure they will try to make a trade to prevent losing either, but a lot can change between now and then.

@Gofnut999 im kind of surprised they didn’t sign Lauzon to a 1 yr extension to make him exempt from the expansion draft. If I remember correctly isn’t any expiring RFA exempt from being picked?

Don’t believe so but i’m not positive. I believe the expansion draft occurs in the portion of the calendar that players are under contract terms from season that just ended so all pending free agents are still under contract, otherwise everyone would just circumvent the draft with that loophole.

Edit, yes pending free agents still under contract and must be protected or made eligible. If selected normal free agent rules apply after that, if UFA they can sign with anyone, if RFA Seattle has rights.

His best days are behind him for sure. Still an upgrade over some of the guys we have been rolling with. Chip in a few goals and plays with grit. I have little interest as well. But if meant dumping Backes at a reasonable cost i’d take him as a rental and not re-sign him. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Something like ‘21 2nd/Shen/Backes.

only person hes an upgrade over is kuhlman. he adds fake grit. He is old and slow. Why would this deal help the bruins this year. this helps them only next year. I would 100% play kuhlman over simmonds. also simmonds at 5m or backes at 4.925m in the ahl. Ide rather address the backes contract in the offseason than give up anything this year to dump his next years hit.

I’d 100% play Simmonds over Nordstrom. Putting Train on 3rd, moving Kuhlman to 4c and sliding Kuraly over to LW4.

He’d be 2nd on team in hits right now and willing to drop gloves, not sure how that is fake. Slow yes.

It helps a little this year, helps greatly next year. Getting that 6m off the books completely is huge.

getting 6m off the books can be done in the offseason. sure hed be 2nd on the team in hits but the entire team ramps it up hitting wise during the postseason... if you are going to get a guy thats physical you want him on the top 2 lines to be able to help forecheck when bergy/marchy/pasta are being outmuscled.

That’s why they make a 2nd move. 😉

It’s actually going to be harder to move Backes in offseason. Far fewer teams in play.
