At the time of the trade Stepan had more than twice as much term left on his contract as Danault and was also part of a package with Raanta. You won't get a top 10 pick plus a prospect for Danault, especially in this draft
like i said above MTL isnt looking to get rid of him
only an overpay will do
Stepan had double the term but has double the cap hit with the same production
unlike Stepan who's a horrible faceoff Center his entire career
Danault has almost 10% on him with a 55% average win rate taking draws in the top 5 in the NHL
Overall Danault's >Stepan is value wise to any contender because he does more for less
Personally i'd rather a top 10 in next years draft .
we got no chance at Lafreniere in reality given we've only had i believe 3 first overalls and only 1 lived up to the hype in Guy Lafleur drafted 50 years ago.
that being said L'heaueux is a frigging beast and called the Road Runner for obvious reasons .
Point per game 16 year old QMJHL rookie and last i checked top rookie in the league
he was projected top 15 but is climbing as his team succeeds mounting 7-10 game win streaks multiple times this year.
if we got this our PP would never be wasted as the last player i seen this dominate this young on special teams was Radulov .
