If Toffolli is smart he will resign with Canucks because his center will either be Pettersson or Horvat and he also likes playing with Pearson.

Plenty of factors can play a role in Toffoli's decision-making, such as cap space (SJ > VAN), playing with a decent center (can't go wrong with Couture/Hertl or Petterson/Horvat) and linemates (Pearson's good but so is Kane and Meier), family (SJ is California and closer to LA but VAN's not too far either and in the same time zone still), probability to compete (Sharks are still in win now mode too even though VAN has the better chance to grow with youth), etc.

I think Toffoli will at least consider SJ having said all these factors.

It's best that the Sharks keep the TBL's 1st round pick because 2020 is a deep draft and they don't have the best prospect pools. I'll be honest here, that 1st round pick could "save some face" on draft day just like how Sens using the CBL's draft pick once did to some extent.

Toffoli will not sign with San Jose regardless.
