So instead of having Lucic on the roster and counting as 5.25M against the cap. Flames are giving up a 2nd and retaining 750k on Lucic, while putting Schneider in the minors for the next 2 years?

Essentially have a goalie in the minors counting as 5.65M(4.9M+750k) against the cap for another 2 years vs a roster player at 5.25M for 2/3 years(Lucic contract is structured where he'll likely retire over playing that final season).

Tre would be out the door pretty fast after that one lol

I love the Lucic trade, I’m so glad a Calgary fan can finally admit how garbage he is. Just awesome how after the trade Eric Francis and the other homers were calling it a win for Calgary

Still not interested in Bennett as the primary return for Anderson. Anderson has done more at the NHL level than Bennett ever did.

It's the price you have to pay for the last year of the contract to be gone. Schneider is 2 years, Lucic is 3. A 2nd is the approximate cost of the salary difference.

The price you have to pay is a higher cap hit for 2 years instead of 3 for a player that wont even be playing plus a 2nd and a 7th?

With the final year of Lucic's contract set to see him play his last season for just 1M out of the 42M, and the fact he's already mentioned this year that he contemplated retirement. Tre would have to be an idiot to make that trade.

He is also a RHD signed with term. It would be worth paying more for him than it would be trading for Kylington. Typically when you make trades, they will typically be what both teams need.
