When a guy pass through waivers and didn’t get picked, it’s because is value is zero or negative, you’ll get nothing or if a team are really are in trouble, you’ll get a late rd pick

Hoffman signing is pretty unnecessary. Markstrom and Toffoli too much. Tanev too low.

Toffoli 5x5
Tanev 5.5x4
Markstrom 5-5.5x3/4

Virtanen and Gaudette might cost more. Not sure.

My ideal Canucks team for next season would look like this:

Miller Pettersen Boeser
Pearson Horvat Toffoli
Ferland Gaudette Virtanen
Clifford Beagle Lievo

Elder Myers
Hughes Tanev
Martinez DeMelo

Markstrom
Demo

Combination of good playoff experienced winners still inside their prime along with young talented players.

or teams rosters were full, or it would put them over the cap, or they would have to waive a different player to make room, or teams wanted to keep their waiver position for a potentially better player.... waivers is a tricky process, but by no means directly reflects the value of a player.

i'm not saying Baertschi is valuable. he's injury prone, but when healthy is a solid middle 6 guy. a 4th or 5th would be a fair price. but he does not have no value at all, and for sure does not have negative value.
the only reason he is in the minors is because of the cap releif, and there were other (cheaper) players the fit VAN's system better than he did

MTL had so many guys injured when he passed through waivers and we didn't even picked him because of is salary. We tried to acquired him after with salary retained but Benning didn't want to retain salary so we signed Kovalchuk instead
