It does matter if you're 22. He'll still be improving for the next 3-4 years and is under team control. It's also odd you think a former 1st round pick who is living up to the potential of a 1st round pick, can't fetch a 1st round pick - especially considering teams who give up 1st rounders are teams wanting to win immediately. So what would a team rather have: a future 1st round pick who can't help you for the next 2,3,4 years - or is even a guarantee to make the NHL - or a former 1st round pick who is almost in their prime, has the potential to score 20+ goals, kills penalties, has game-changing speed, and is on a favorable contract[/quote]
Kapanen is not worth a first and that’s all! There is other guys that can kill penalties, and is really fast, and scores goals. And I would rather not trade a first round pick to get Kapanen, and if I want to trade it I will for a better player.
