I was not proposing that trade, I was wondering if one of those guys could be a starting point. Do you mean either of those guys alone would be too much?

I thought you had it as package deal. Sorry on my part. I think they wouldnt trade Weegar for Johnsson and Dermott is younger and just as good.
It would have to be at least Liljegren....like previously stated, Weegar is really good and will only get better plus it would be within the division so automatically makes the price higher

I wouldn't say Dermott is as good. I just think Weegar really brings what the Leafs need. He plays against top competition and is good at suppressing chances against... Could be a good partner for Rielly.

Hey! You do exist! I wouldn't turn my nose up at trading Liljegren for him. However, I disagree with you about the in division thing... That doesn't matter for a lot of GM's, and it shouldn't.
So like... What are the Panthers doing? They are such a confusing team to me. Like, where do they want to upgrade in the offseason?
Weegar would be a good add for Toronto. I also think this makes sense for Florida- they already have Ekblad and Stralman as RHD and will need to pay up for Weegar. Dermott is a solid 4/5 D right now, and would look good on their left side behind KY and Matheson . Johnsson can help the top 6 with the potential loss of Dadanov, and Hoffman. He's skilled, younger, has term and a low cap hit than those two guys.
I don't think Toronto needs to add. Leave as is or maybe a conditional mid rounder on either side if Dubas and Tallon want to dwell on it.

No, Toronto definitely doesn't need to add if this were the package. I wasn't proposing this trade, I was wondering whether a package built around either of those guys could work. If it were Johnsson and Dermott both going to Florida, the Panthers probably have to add a 2nd or 3rd imo

My bad boss. Would you do Dermott + Johnsson + 2020 4th and 7th for Weegar + 2020 3rd and 5th?

I think the Leafs are giving more value there, but it fits a need and clears cap for them. I'd consider it. Maybe Dermott + Johnsson + 4th for Weegar + 2nd

They would want to add a top pair LHD to partner with Ekblad....they like Weegar but wouldn’t mind upgrading. That’s the biggest thing they want to do. Resigning Hoffman would be another thing but only at a discount which is possible but highly unlikely.

So Weegar would be available considering they are looking to upgrade? Also what kind of pieces do you think they want to trade for that top pair LHD?

I don’t think they move Weegar even if they got a guy line Brodin. I think they move Matheson/Yandle (unlikely) . As for what they would for up for Brodin....Tallon would have to go outside his norm...according to reports BG wants either a top line center or a second line center plus. It should have been Trocheck but now talking to some Wild fans they want Borgstrom and a first at the minimum.
