Better off signing Labanc long term then trading him no? Especially if they did offersheet/get Cirelli they'd have their top 6 figured out for the next few years at least.

All that cap space tied up in three 30 or older dmen and Jones is really gonna make it tough to improve the rest of the lineup, gonna be interesting to see what Wilson does in the offseason once or should I say if this virus stuff passes.

Hyman has a ntc so we can't move him second Hyman is doing that well despite missing 2 months and hes on a 2.25mill contract a bargain for that kind of point production could have reached 50+ points in a full season. Would rather keep him as watch him continue to improve and rack up goals with tavares or Matthews

Hyman had as many goals as both of those Sharks players together in 50 games for less than 2.5 million dollars. You know how badly they lose this trade, right?

Labanc has got what Hyman is on pace for at the age of 23 and will be 4 years younger in a few months. He will also probably sign a deal somewhere around 3.5 million or 4 years. Hyman will cost more than that after this season.

That's true, but some people don't think Labanc belongs in the top 6. I would say he's a middle 6 player that should play 3rd line RW and play in the top 6 if anyone there gets injured.

So your saying Labanc is better and is younger and is gonna cost less than Hyman? So that's why we should trade him
That's doesn't make sense at all

except that Labanc needs to be signed this summer and that 3.5 million x4 years is significantly more than Hyman is getting now. Those savings are important to the leafs right now and if Hyman makes more in 2 years, then he has earned it.
I'd love to add Lebanc, but not at the cost of Hyman and Sorensen doesnt make up the difference.

Long term yes, but short term no. Our bottom 6 is already as cheap as can be, and it would be hard to move our 3 most expensive defenseman. If there is a compliance buyout then we could keep Labanc, but that would mean Tampa has more space to match Cirelli. If there isn't a compliance buyout, then the only other spot we could get cheaper in is our goaltending. We could still probably sign a decent goalie in free agency for 3 million, but I don't want to risk having bad goaltending for 3 straight years.

I said Labanc will sign a deal in the ballpark of 3.5 million for for years. Last time i checked 3.5>2.25
I also said after the seasons over, (so when Hyman's contract is over) Hyman will likely sign a deal worth more than 3.5 million
